since my mp5a4 broke, I was wondering if i could put a g3 gearbox in the body instead of a mod5 gearbox?

Yes, you can put any ver.2 gearbox in it. Though, you will need to take them apart to swtich out the triggers and selector plates, tappet, and air nozzle. If you want, you can switch out the type 0 cylinder in the G3 box for the Type 1 in the mp5, but its not going to have any real problems if you don't.

Basically, just find a super cheap ver.2 shell and take everything out of yours and transfer it into the other. It will be the cheapest.

I'd suggest switching the cylinder out as well. Don't go for the cheapest 6mm GB you can find either. Save and invest into a decent 7-8mm

Ive used 0 cylinders in many short barreled guns seeing now real issues.
Considering hes running a JG just getting a TM box will be a big improvement.

Never understood why people harp on stock TM stuff. my old 21 had seen 100k+ in bbs with TM gears, pistons and shell. If you know how to build it i.e radiusing the edges proper shimming etc. It will run for a long time. Even with a 120.

I'm not harping on TM, I love their stuff. My first gun was a TM AK47 and I loved it to pieces, but seeing as he is 13, I don't think he has had a lot of experience opening up guns.. I could be completely wrong and look like an asshat however ;)
