mrc superbrain 960 charger

i was wondering if anyone here has this or has any experience with this charger.

i just got it a little while back and i had some questions
when i plug a 8.4 volt battery into it when the charger is unplugged it says it is about 10.6 volts and it seems to me like it should say 8.4

also when charging a battery it seems to work just fine and the battery warms up and all but when the meter gets about half way it beeps and says it is charged, and it seems like it would get all the way full first.

so i dont know if this is normal or if my batteries arent getting a full charge

i have been charging it at 1.5 amps and 30 mv it took about 30 minutes for a 8.4 1200 nimh

i dont really have any experience with chargers so i am hoping someone on here has experience with this one that can let me know if it is normal or if the charger is bad

any help would be appreciated

Hi there,

With superbrains, they have a lot of settings in a minimal graphic interface. Are you sure you're on the right setting? It sounds like it's set to charge for a set amount of time (30 mins) vs auto charging till full. As for the 10.8 volts reading before charging, that's the resting state of the battery. A battery's rating is determined by it's voltage when its in use and pulling current, in that case the 10.8 volts resting will drop to 8.4 volts,
