CA M15A4 Sportline Shooting Issue

Postby Neo Elve » Wed Mar 23, 2011 4:00 pm

I bought a Classic Army M15A4 last summer and I decided to get it ready for summer. Here's the shocker; it won't shoot.

It's not the battery, I checked it by testing it with another airsoft rifle.

I cleaned/ran an unjamming rod through the barrel.

I tried both semi and full auto to no avail.

I can hear/feel the motor trying to go but it won't shoot. What do you guys recommend.

PS: There are no airsmiths in my area/close by so I'm on my own.

Did yours jam out of the blue or while shooting?

Mine seems to be a wiring problem. it will be shooting fine and then all of a sudden when i pull the trigger, it just clicks and i can kinda hear the motor start to whir. it usually has problems on semi, not fully
EDIT: so while shooting I guess. it also just wont fire sometimes, like when pick it up randomly one day, it just wont work. but it will the next day

Motor.

Unscrew the plate on the bottom of the pistol grip and see if the motor is attached at all.

Alright, I'll check the motor and wiring first thing tomorrow. If it's not those what else might it be?

It could be a wiring problem too.. Most likely a motor wiring problem from what you described though

I'm going to guess motor. The two CA Sportlines I've owned had the worst motors I've ever worked with.

I disassembled the gun down to the gear box and I tested the motor separately. The motor is working. I'm going to take the gearbox apart as the problem must be inside it. Any tips/suggestions of what I should look out for before I go in?

Uhh.. You should try reversing the wiring on the motor before you do that and see if the wiring installation was incorrect. I wouldn't open up the GB unless you have an idea of what you're doing or someone there to help

Well granted you already took it apart to check however, if you feel the motor trying to work then it's usually not the motor. It's probably just locked up. Reach in with a pick and pop the anti-reversal latch before you crack it. If you feel it unlock when you pull the switch you should be golden.

Where is the anti-reversal latch?

To go with what Catch22 posted, take a sturdy wire (like an old wire hanger) and straighten it out. At one end, bend a 90 angle in it so that you have an "L" shaped hook. The end of the "L" should be 1/4" or so long. Stick this in the hole where the motor goes (appears as a half moon in the picture above). Work the hook behind the latch, than pull straight down. You'll hear a pop noise, and possibly hear/see/feel the gearbox de-cycle back to the resting position.
