IF YOU DON'T REGULARLY WORK ON GEARBOXES DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD!

Symptoms: No electrical activity to the motor

Diagnoses: Trigger fails to move contacts inside the gearbox.

Findings: During firing process, the trigger looses contact with the trigger contacts. Resetting the position of the trigger alleviates this problem for 1 round, than issue comes back. Detailed examination revealed small metal post that sits right behind the trigger contacts has broken off, allowing the contact to move further to the rear.

Question: Is there any way to fix this without a new gearbox?

Piece in question is circled in red (obviously this isn't the same one that's broken...)

The trigger post seems to have broken. It happened to my G&P SR16 over the summer too. The fix is pretty complicated and involves drilling it out and adding in a replacement but it'd be easier to get another gearbox to be honest.

Yeah Andrew, you can fix it.

I've made a post by using a set-screw and some JB weld. You can easily solve the problem....and it'll last longer than the original if you set it up right!

its an echo 1 gearbox, isnt it?

that happens all the time on E1 AR platform gearboxes. quick fix is a new shell. i know jesse at ASO has drilled a hole and used a cut down machine screw to replace the post.

So, quick and easy = new gearbox (or a new gun...)

Down and dirty= drilling, screwing, cursing

Thanks. I'll see what the owner wants to do. And yes, it's an Echo1. This particular Echo1 has been a pain in the a$$ to work on... Broken airnozzel, multiple electrical bugs, and now this. This just reinforces my hate for Echo1. This, and the god aweful plastic bodies.

It's easy, use a tap and die set.
