Dust Cover trouble

Postby Tactical Church » Fri Apr 01, 2011 9:20 pm

I got a dust cover that doesnt like to stay close. To the point where it doesnt lock in anymore. So it just hangs there like i forgot to zip my pants.

Can anyone give any good ideas on how to fix this and keep the ability to open and close to change hop up?

that happened with me on my G&G, but it could be one of two things:

1.) The little spring piece that holds the dust cover closed is jammed up, and is not engaging

2.) The area right above the ejection port where the little dust cover lock is supposed to engage is worn out

#1 is fixable by pulling the little pin back out, and lubing it with some silicon, but if #2 is the problem then you're SOL unless you want to buy a new upper.

Tape. Just pull it off when you need to adjust your hopup(shouldn't be needed that often). May I ask why you don't want it open in the first place? If anything its more realistic as dust covers are open while firing.

well i just assumed having it open allowed for more possibility of rain entering or possible accidental bump the hop up wheel. is this not a possibility or that big of a problem?

If you take the spring off and reverse it, the tension of the spring will keep it closed, regardless if the magnet works.

It shouldn't be a problem as long as you fake bolt works and covers your wheely.
