That Sir, is truly baffling. My first thought would be something blocking the trigger (part of the lower receiver) but when you said it worked fine in the lower I was blown out of the water.
Good luck...

It sounds like the contacts are worn out (a common problem with the Classic Army G36s). Although it is odd that it works outside of the body.

It may be that when the gearbox is outside the body you can pull the trigger farther than when it is inside the body. As a temporary solution try shaving about 1 mm of plastic from behind the trigger in the lower receiver. Eventually you will probably be forced to install a new set of contacts.

That makes sense, I will open up the box and look at the contacts. perhaps even do the shave idea. I'll repost after I am done. tyvm

I noticed something when I had the upper reciever off and test fireing it in the handle. there is a tiny little pin that slides out a bit when you fire it and I can't tap it in flush too the gearbox. I have some photos to illistrate what I am talking about.

Your problem could be The double wire that sticks out of the handle and hugs the cylinder. It works fine when its out, but when you put it in the upper receiver, it puts tension on that wire, which causes the contacts to not connect properly.

Just as a note, when you pull really hard, the trigger is not moving. Instead, it's pulling the gearbox farther back in the grip, which pushes the previously mentioned wire forward a little more.
