Galaxy MP5K or DE UMP.45

Postby Lingo » Sat Aug 13, 2011 10:58 am

I just figured out the indoor airsoft arena in hillsboro dosn't allow guns over 350 fps. My current AEG is 380 fps so I am in need of a CQB gun. I've completely narrowed my choices down to these to guns.

Which one do you reccomend?

I have a DE UMP and I love it. ROF is rather slow with the stock battery but its built well and holds up good. Only problem with it is mags are more spendy than the MP5 and bigger (about twice as thick and 1.5 times as long as an MP5 mag, but plenty of people make pouches to carry them).

I've also had a Galaxy MP5K as well, and it wasn't as strong as my UMP. The plastics are quite weak. It did shoot well with the standard 8.4 though.

ROF isn't very important to me.

Well then get whichever will fit your budget/you better. The stock on the UMP is a bit longer than the MP5K stock so keep that in mind.

There's no difference. The G&G is made with almost the exact same plastics. You aren't getting anymore gun for your money (internals are close to the same as well).

If you do get the DE UMP, swap out the motor, for any other motor. DE's stock motor is the worst motor I've ever seen/fiddled with, so pick up a $5 china motor and call it a day.

+1 to both jew and G36, the DE UMP is actually fairly nice, but the motor is utter fail.

I had 2 Galaxy mp5k pdw's and I loved the hell out of them. I got them used and they continued to work flawlessly for a long time. I finally dropped one on concrete and though some plastic popped off it still functioned fine.

Galaxy MP5Ks have been the metaphorical Hi Point of airsoft guns for us. If we keep a loaner on hand, it's usually a Galaxy. They're slow, reliable, and notably very loud. The damn piston slams forward so hard the gun has a bit of recoil, and they shoot a CQB perfect 330 or 340 on average.

Get a Galaxy, pack of STAR or MAG midcaps and a replacement batt, and you can be set up with an effective CQB for under two hundred bucks.
