Ares HKG36/ the Great, the Ok, the Ugly?

Postby [HARPER] » Wed Nov 02, 2011 2:18 pm

Hello troopers, this is your Airmen speaking. I would appreciate it if anyone that has had any experience with the Ares HKG36 could answer these questions for me.

-Is it accurate and at what maximum range?
-how well does it feed and with what mags?
-Is this a easy gun to take apart so to replace or enhance parts?
-What are the minor and major problems with this gun?
-What is the best thing about this gun?
-Is it worth buying?
-how long do the parts last that it comes with?
-what are some subjection when it comes to upgrades?

Thank you in advance for your answers and help.

If you got the cash (an extra $150 or so) Go for the KWA G36. It's also licensed by H&K, so no sweat there. It's probably twice as good, too...

I hope that the 2GX version is better than the 1st gen, which was absolute garbage. The thing would ONLY work with KWA parts, and the hop-up was constantly having issues... I'd honestly just save your money for something that is worth it (the Ares), and not risk it with the KWA.

It is an Ares.

Be prepared to replace everything internally speaking, from motor to hopup. Everything including and in between not withstanding the gearbox shell itself. The answers to your listed questions really depend how well you do with that.
I'd try to find a CA first. Save yourself the headache.

OK so i do have a umarex g36 is basicly a re-branded version of the ares g36. I have had nothing but trouble with it first game i lost the little crappy screw to hold in the battery for the red dot on the top. The second game i went to gears jammed. third game spur gear broke replaced gear set. Mind you that i was going to scrims and wasn't firing a lot. Replaced the piston head to a vented after i did that had to replace the hop up unit, the prongs broke off. Lastly i had to replace the motor because it was junk. So my suggestion if you want a full version g36 try to get a classic army g36 if you cant get a kwa g36 and get a mods for it but that would be more expensive. I overall i spent about 400 for the rifle and 300 for parts so just warning if you do get them it will cost you a lot for something that for overall money spent could be on something better.
