AGM

Postby Ramer » Sat Jun 30, 2012 6:58 pm

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I had a hard time finding answers using the search function. I also find mixed reviews online.

I would like the opinions of the AP community about the brand AGM. If you haven't used AGM before, please don't say anything; I don't want hearsay and speculation. I want it from someone who knows from experience. The more the better. One of my teammates is looking at getting an AGM SCAR, so I want to make sure he is making a good choice. I myself prefer Classic Army, but he says this one is at a pretty good price.

I had an AGM M14 that I liked... But then it started shooting 90 degrees around corners and I couldn't straighten it out... So I sold it off and haven't heard from the owner since...

Speaking of which, if you purchased an M14 at the BSP Challenge, I'd like to know how it's doing...

lets just put it this way: you get what you pay for.

AGM are a chinese manufacturer so putting the AGM SCAR next to the CA SCAR no doubt the CA's performance wins by a long shot right out of the box. but given that the price of the AGM is almost half of what a CA would cost. the gun is defiantly worth getting if you are just getting into airsoft or have a tight budget.

I've had good luck with my AGM M4. Aside from semi-auto kicking the bucket, it hasn't given me any problems.

I have an AGM HK 416 Metal body which has so far, knock on wood, been a decent little gun. It was shooting 420 fps out of the box so the first thing I had to do was swap out the spring. Might need to consider that if you are adverse to gears, gubbins and searching on your hands and knees for small screws and springs that go flying. While I was in the gearbox, I performed all of the air sealing mods and have managed to get a chronograph reading of around 350 give or take five fps. Accuracy has been a bit of an issue recently though, albeit my fault seeing as I have a hard time refraining from tinkering around inside things (can't tell if ' that's what she said ' applies there). The stock accuracy wasn't to bad, maybe a 5 inch spread at 30 feet discounting fliers. But in the pursuit of perfection, I was a bit over zealous and buggered it up. Right now, I have the stock barrel, stock two piece hop chamber and a PDI W-Hold bucking in it. My issue at the moment is it seems to be over hopping with the dial all the way off..... Oh well, more fun for me at a later date, I expect. Either way, the gun wasn't a KWA or TM, but for the money, it spits BB's well enough.

Thanks for the info, guys. I trust the opinion of this community, so I'll let him know to avoid AGM. I've been telling him from the start he should just go Classic Army, so hopefully I can get him to do that.

Thanks again, everybody.

A couple of my teammates had Dboys SCARs. The general consensus was they liked them. Nearly identical to the CA's, but the color was a little different (I think the Dboys was closer to the real one than the CA).

That's good to know. I'll have a look.

AGM makes some good WWII guns such as the MP40 and the MP44, but everything else is bad. I got the AGM Scar as my first gun, and it never, i repeat, NEVER worked properly. The hop-up was broken out of the box. When I got it fixed, it was double-feeding really badly, and then the hop-up broke again. It broke for a third time 4 days after getting it back. Don't buy their replicas.

Man that's pretty bad. You'd think they'd get enough complaints about their products to start, you know, improving their stuff.

They make decent stuff. People just like to lay down the hate on chinaman guns.

That's the thing, though. it got all good reviews on Airsoft Megastore. Then when I actually found a good video review, I discovered that it eventually falls apart. That's what's been happening.
