About What ROF Will This Modified MP5 get?

Postby victor.hernandez » Sat Jul 07, 2012 2:24 pm

I am planning to upgrade this Full Metal ICS MP5A5.
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=6799

This Is what I want to do:

Shim it with these shims(.1,.2,.3, & .5mm Madbull shims)
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=4890

Install a 9.6v 1600mAh NiMH nunchuck battery
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=3372

Install a Matrix Turbo 3000 Motor
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=3569

Install a Guarder SP110(M110) Spring for 350FPS
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=1071

About what RPS do you think this modified gun would run? RPM? It was originally 12.5 RPS completely stock with a 8.4v NiMH, and about 15 RPS with a 9.6v NiMH. Also stock, around 880 RPM.
Is it true that a 7.4v LiPo will have the same ROF as a 9.4v NiMH? I chose not to go with a M120 Spring, Lonex A3 motor, and a 7.4v LiPo to increase the life of my gun, and I don't need 400FPS at ~24RPS. All I need is 350FPS at 15RPS for Field. Thanks.

18.5 rps
AKA: rbm33

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

Wow, really? That's great. I was hoping for 15RPS. But over 20rps and 380fps is just too much.

That is why I will stick with a 9.6v. About how much faster is the ROF on a full charged 11.1v LiPo than a full charged 9.6v?

I disagree! Should be 18.3 rps

Btw, your motor is rated for m100 or less but you used a m110. Good choice.

Also using a nice motor with a shit battery is dumb. Use a Lipo.

There are so many variables at play here that there is no way to judge it until you put it together and test it. ROF usually depends on the bearings, spring, motor, shimjob and battery. Any one of those can slow it down or speed it up. The easiest to change is the battery. More voltage = higher rate of fire. If you want to go nuts, get the best and largest bearings (not bushings) you can that will fit in your gearbox, a high speed motor, a lowish powered spring, a sector chip, work REALLY carefully on the shims or have it professionally done, and use an 11.1v lipo. Some guns need better gears to run a bigger lipo, I'm not sure whats in those MP5s off the top of my head.

Keep in mind though that more rounds per minute means sooner failure rates as well. Very high rof guns have a tendency to fail more often simply because they are cycling more in the same amount of time as a lower rof gun.
