Battery Question

Postby AndyC » Sun Aug 05, 2012 7:56 pm

Used the search and google, didn't see anything about my question.

I was at a meet this weekend and one of the players was running an M4 with two 8.4v 1200mah batteries in tandem. The rifle used a 'Y' connector, each battery plugged into an end and then the 'Y' to the main connector. What I am curious about is what does this configuration actually improve? The guy told me it was better than the 9.6v that I usually run. Litterally. He said that when I asked and walked away. Is this safe for the rifle?

His battery is the equiv of a 8.4v 2400mah. Yes it is safe.

Larger battery means it will last longer. Also means voltage won't drop as much when it is being used which will likely yield a larger rounds per second measure.

Whether or not it would outperform your 9.6v is something that would have to be tested to know. Unlikely though but possible.

My nun-chucks are 2200mah so his batteries are individually quite small.

It's not the way to make 8.4V battery better than 9.6. If you have choice I would recomend to use 9.6V battery.

In this case I guess that it's the way to make his battery live much longer.
It is equal if he would use one 8.4V battery, and then just put another one when first will discharge.
