Increasing Range {Again:D}

Postby Tork » Mon Aug 27, 2012 3:02 pm

So i've been creeping on older posts about increasing range and i'm wondering: How far could i get a full-length M4 to shoot?

As of right now i seem to shoot between 70-120ft. These are Evike specs for the gun:
Gearbox: Ver. II Full metal Gearbox. Metal Reinforced 6mm metal Bushings, M110 Spring. Marui Compatible and fully customizable.
Fire Mode: Full Auto / Semi Auto and Safety.
Muzzle Velocity: 340-390 FPS w/ 0.20g
Range: 70~120 feet.
Outer barrel thread: 14mm negative.
Inner Barrel: 363mm.
Hop-up: Adjustable
Outer Barrel Thread: 14mm Negative.
Motor: Long Type. Heat Resistance Ultra High Torque

I am hoping i can get some input on what bucking is reliable and where i should throw my money 8)
I'm not looking to make my gun a DMR but i do want to finish upgrading it so i can start with some other models to upgrade. From what i have seen Madbull makes great buckings but i'm not sure how the bucking works in terms of the benefits from soft bucking and stiff bucking.

Any M120 spring and a soft bucking, Madbull Reds are good. Then clean your barrel. Polish it if you know what you're doing.

There is a lot more you can do, but this is probably the single most cost effective route.

Get these to increase range:
Tight bore barrel - everyone has different brands they like but in general shot for a steel one that is 6.03. There is no need for a 6.01 because there is many things that could go wrong.
Bucking- mad bull blues or red work, some like Kwa 2gx and others like tm.
H-nub - look for a concave nub. Airsoft outlet nw sells them.
Bb's - this is the most overlooked thing. You want to run a heavier bb to fly longer in a straight path. Make sure to get a good brand that polishes them.

Fps doesn't equal range all the time. Stock tm guns can sometimes outshoot chinese guns. Tm shooting sub 300 fps and Chinese shooting over 400.

Only thing I would investigate other than these awesome recommendations is make sure you have a good hop up unit. If you're in a plastic body, you're most likely stuck with a 2-piece (unless it's a G&G Combat Machine), whereas a metal body will (almost always) have a 1-piece hop up unit. A good, solid unit with no internal seams, and with a good tight seal in relation to your air nozzle (which can also be upgraded for tighter air seal) will put more air behind your BB. More power to push a heavier BB weight, like a .30, which will give you more consistency.

Along with what everyone here has suggested, use heavier ammo. The extra inertia that added weight carries with it slows down the BB, but it velocity drop off is significantly reduced at range so it travels farther and more accurately than a lighter BB. I use nothing but .30s in my guns now, having converted from .25s about a year ago. The performance difference blew my mind.

6.03 inner barrel

Better hop up bucking

Better motor and maybe a stronger spring

Heavier bbs are less effected by the natural elements (wind) therefor it will give you better consistensy, so use .28 + for sure if you have 400 plus FPS
