M4 making a weeeee noise

Postby Cyclops » Tue Oct 23, 2012 8:51 pm

A friend gave me his M4 (Believe it's a G&G) to take to a local shop for this weee noise its making when you pull the trigger. We adjusted the screw on the bottom of the grip which slowed the noise down some and now fires Bb's, but it still makes that high pitch noise just not as loud. It just doesn't sound right. Any thoughts? Also the grip gets kinda warm after test firing it so I'm thinking the motor might be shot if it gets warm. I'm new to the sport but trying to do all the problem solving I can before going to the shop so that if it happens again I have a better idea of what it might be.

Has he removed the motor at any time?

It may not be seated properly or the wires are below it and causing the motor to be pushed farther into the gearbox than it should. Or if he changed the motor, it might be too short.

It's having fun, weeeeeeeeee.

But yeah, look at the motor. Keep adjusting that screw, if that doesn't work pull the motor and see if the pinion is good.

In addition to what McNair said, if he's ever tampered with the motor I'd make sure that all the connections are sound.

Yeah that's a motor problem. Burned out, maybe some wiring issues.

where to start, where to start.
well lets ask some questions here so that some of the people here that are trying to help you are more informed, although that may be a moot point as you said you are new and might not know what you are being asked. (not trying to say you might be stupid bot ive asked some people what i thought were pretty bassic questions and they had no idea what i was asking about.
how old is the gun?
has it been upgraded? if so was anything upgraded recently before it started to make the sound?
find out from your friend, if he can remember.
what kind of battery are you useing?
if you have the ability to make a quick video of the problem you can upload it to youtube and set it as private and post the link here and it will help those of us that wish to help you.

as for the motor getting hot, all the same questions apply plus:
how many shots did you fire before it started to get warm? full auto or semi?
how warm did it get? just a lil bit or did you feel you might burn your hand by holding or anything in between?
