Hopup moves while shooting full auto

Postby McNair » Wed Nov 14, 2012 9:50 am

So, last game I noticed that while shooting full auto my hop up would spin back turning the hop up off eventually. On semi it is fine, so not so much of an issue, but a odd.

Any ideas?

Sounds like loose threading or something to that effect in within the hop-up system itself. On full auto the vibrations are likely rattling the hop up loose. Quick solution would be to tighten up the hop-up mechanism.
When in doubt, empty the mag.

tighten down those clamp washer things. They are loose, when you turn your hopup up, it would be really easy to turn. If it's not easy to turn, then you may have some gear issues within the hopup.

Or toss on a small o-ring on the backside of the gear axles. That should tighten it up also and stop them from moving freely.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

It's on my CA SBR with the DD rail. I haven't opened the receiver since it slides apart and getting the wires back out through one of the holes in the rail is a phony pony. I think I'd have to take the whole rail off to do it again. bah. I'm fine with semi-auto.

Well then, you should be able to tighten the little phillips head screw on the adjustment wheel without having to disassemble the gun at all. That's where I'd start. If that doesn't do it, try adding a small o-ring underneath that adjustment wheel.

Yeah, that's the first thing we did(try tightening the screw). I'll shazaam around with it. This is probably the hop up I put on this barrel anyway, so that would explain a lot.

If you have any extra shims laying around from a gearbox, throw one of those under the screw for the adjustment gear. It'll tighten it up nicely.
