Wanting a good M4 I can grow into

Postby Yinz » Mon Jan 26, 2015 7:43 pm

Hi, I am looking to get into airsoft and have done some searching online and in shops at intermediate level m4s. So far I am torn between a G&G high velocity C16 Raider http://www.hobbytron.com/ElectricGGGC16RaiderLHighMuzzleVelocityVersionFPS420AirsoftRifle.html# or any other of the mid-level G&G M4s. Or spending a bit more and getting a KWA http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/1984-kwa-km4-ris-full-metal-rail-equipped-airsoft-aeg-rifle-w-free-sling.aspx#tab-3.

My questions....

is the KWA worth the extra cash?

will these rifles meet my desire for a good gun that is dependable and not a time and money sink for repairs?

I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you.

On KWA you need to use their parts on most of the items in that gun. A G&G you can use what ever parts. I'd get the G&G honestly for future upgrades down the road.

On the flip side, the internals that come inside those KWA's are pretty damned tough and won't need as much replacement or upgrading.

I've owned 2 KWAs. I loved them both. They eventually failed, but I was running 11.1 lipos with the stock gun and used them hard.

I have two KWA's there great guns in my opinion ,there a little more money, but all you have to upgrade is the bucking and maybe a tight bore barrel.

For around the same price as the KWA, but a whole lot better gun, i would go with the echo1 platinum OEM'd by VFC http://www.evike.com/products/47236/

KWA sometimes has mag fitment issues when using mid caps.

Or, i would look at the top tech G&G's with metal bodies. http://www.evike.com/products/45352/

Or, i would go to the airsoft expo this weekend and look at 100's of guns new and used for the best deals.

I would look at krytak as well. They are a new player but have been getting rave reviews.

This has been my only issue with KWA AEGs as well.

Personally I am a fan of Classic Army. I've used the same one for 3 years now and it was probably 4 or 5 years old(if not older)when I picked it up. However, I don't know how the new ones are or price range. I've not looked at buying "new" AEGs in a long time. I just pick up stuff in the used market.

Just make sure you get one with an adjustable seat post. ;)

My answer is this. If you think you'll be into this for at least a year or two, then spend the money.
If you drop about $350 on a new gun, you'll get something real good.

As far as buying used, oh man, that can be scary. But anyone who has responded here already would be a reliable source. Not me though, I don't own enough to sell.

But all those aforementioned guns would be great choices, if money's not a factor, I'd go all the way and get the Krytak.

And if you're not dead set on an AR platform, check out the E&L AK, or the Scorpion evo.

Another note! My first gun was the G&G Top Tech 418. GREAT GUN all around. This gun came with a 2 yr warrenty which is un heard of on other guns. My warranty is now up (2 months ago) and now making it into a DMR. This gun was never in the shop for repairs. Hardest thing is find one in stock. http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... s_id=10506
If you like that style you can go with the 416. Only difference is the length of the warranty. In fact at the Expo I believe G&G will be there and they may have this gun as well as many others. GREAT place to find out some info....
