Bravo Xyclone II Motor Compatibility

Postby B.O.P. Hawk » Tue Mar 24, 2015 12:59 pm

Well, Bravo has a pretty good selection of high-quality AEG parts. In terms of Quality, their Xyclone II motor is no exception. It is very well shimmed, very low friction, nice clean Neo magnets and crisp brushes, great wires and contacts on the shaft, and a nice CNCd Pinion gear...

By itself, the motor turns much better than any of the motors I have. But even with the High-torque moniker, It has less power than the stock motor in 3 different Medium motor guns. It has an evil grating noise like the motor height has been horrendously adjusted on a loose gearbox with no shims, even tho the gears are perfectly shimmed. I Have tried lubing it up and cleaning the motor, but it is still not performing.

I think the culprit is the pinion gear. It may be at a slightly different angle or spacing than the angled teeth on all of the bevel gears I have tried. I even tried a set of Bravo gears with the same results.

I just ordered a pinion gear puller, and my next step in to switch out this one with one that came stock with one of the guns.

Does anybody have any experience with this motor, or similar experience with another motor?

First off, that was quite the NecroPost...
If this was still a problem, I would have posted more to get more help and try to figure it out. A PM or two helped me solve this one.

Second, the question to which this topic pertains is rather clearly stated in the final sentence of the initial post. I don't know what could be more clear about asking if anybody has experience with the Bravo Xyclone II motor.

And finally, your post is sad. Ironically hopeless, in fact.

To wrap it up, the problem was the pinion gear. Using my gear puller, I swapped out the Bravo pinion with the stock one for the gun and it works beautifully, pulling an m130 quick and clean like a knife through water. Problem solved.
