Average amount spent on your primary AEG..

Postby malik » Wed Jul 14, 2010 9:07 am

Okay, this could easily turn in to some idiotic forum that becomes useless. Let's try not to have that happen.

My dad keeps commenting on "how much have you spent on your gun now??" I think including the gun I am at MAYBE $250. From what I have seen, people spend upwards of $300 or even $500 on their primary AEGs. Am I correct in believing this? Is a stock G&G even truly EFFECTIVELY skirmishable without some upgrades?
We want 'em to know if they're gonna leave a bomb on the side of the road, first, we're just gonna blow up their little f**kin road.

Between all of my Magpul PTS furniture, the very good base platform, my upgraded internals/tightbore, and my LiPo? I probably have over $800 into my M4 URX, total.

My only gun thats stock is my Real Sword. Haven't had to change a thing on it to make it ready to go (not counting the lipo since I use it with other guns). Most of my other guns have just be upgraded with new barrels/buckings, which is a rather small investment.

So, you can spend just $360~ and have something that'll work great all the time.

My primary AEG has exactly $135 into it (Larue rail, and Larue aimpoint mount cost money, free guns are great!).

My bolt action is up around $320 total (it's been awhile since I figured it out).

My M4 CQBR is stock, and was $150.

My CA SCAR was at $175 before the gearbox exploded.

My TSD M3 Shotgun was $60.

My JG Mp5SD6 was $120 after I put the rail and red dot on it.

My Well Mp5K GBB was $60ish.

My KWA USPc was $130ish

My KWA P226 was $175

My Y&P Mk23 was $25 (tacticaltrunkmonkey.com special!).

My WE 1911's were $150.

My Star M249 was free (although more used than a Vietnamese girl during the 60's).

I think those were ALL my guns... All of them have been my primary at one point or another. These threads are retarded, as those of us who spend the money on them, don't really want to think about the money we DID spend on airsoft (and how it could have been better spent...).

I think the average is trending down, drastically. It used to be you had to spend about $350 for a decent primary AEG. And that was just for the gun and maybe a spring and some bushings, a tightbore if you are lucky. These days folks are buying the $100 AEGs pre-upgraded and adding accessories.

The first AEG I upgraded to the point where I didn't want or need to do anything more to was my G&G UMG.

Bought unused off Craigslist for $130
Two Hi Caps and the UMG suppressor from John at AirsoftNW for $120
Guarder SP110 - $12
Guarder Polycarb piston - $20
Area 1000 piston head - $15
Systema V3 Cylinder Head - $20
SRC 6.04mm M4 length TBB - $15
Madbull Blue Bucking with X nub - $12
Deans Connectors - $3
3 Tenergy stick batteries - $36
King Arms Vertical Foregrip - $12

Grand total - $395

Ended up selling it for about half that. :(
Well, you can start a new topic and get flamed for not searching, or you can search and get flamed for necro-posting. It's really your choice...

I spent $120 total on my UTG MP5 when that first came out.

On my CA G3SG-1 I spent probably $500 total.

On my TM VSR-10 I spent about $600 (net value of trades and upgrades).

On my CA SL-8 I spent around $400.

On my KWA M16 I have spent $300, haven't had to do anything to it yet.

I'm thinking of going back to basics and buying another bolt rifle to tinker with and play with here. Range is much more useful here where there are few trees.

Are you talking AEG & internal upgrades?
Or are we including appropriate batteries & mid-cap mags (if it's a new-to-you platform) so you're ready for a weekend of play?

Either way, i don 't want to think about it.

"More than i planned on spending."

Nice... I'm going to aim for less than $500 with mags/optics... Especially since resale value seems to be pointless after $250 normally.

That was if you had a good deal. Some sites would price them at $1000 and up. I miss them too.

G&G GR-16A2 VN Grenadier: $500 in the gun itself. Over $700 including magazines and shells. Don't even ask about the rest of my gear.
