Narrowing the list

Postby Muskrat » Sat Dec 04, 2010 4:18 pm

Buying my first gun, after a little research and listening to people talk.

KWA and G&G are the 2 choices I have come down to.

I have not seen a G&G in the flesh but have seen KWAs, I am impressed with the fit and finish from top to bottom. Does G&G stack up to the KWAs?

M4 gun full metal is the style I am looking at.

Thanks

Both are great brands. The things that will differ will be stuff like 5 or 6 position stock, coloration, body material(what kind of metal), and so on. I would say go to a retailer and overlook the guns first hand. I don't know about the internals, besides KWAs seem to have a lot of defective guns out the box. That problem may be solved now.

KWA is much better in terms of build quality with the external and internal parts they use on their M4's. My SR10 has a better finish than my G&P SR25 did. Sure they don't have real steel trades, but when a company as fine as KWA has it's trademarks on it's guns, it should make you feel proud. If you do get a defective gun, KWA has a 45 day warranty, which is three times longer than G&G's. I have heard of very few 2GX KWA guns coming defective anyways. KWA guns are Lipoly ready, whereas G&G's are not, that should say something about their performance.

I know that you've gotten to G&G and KWA.

But G&P tops G&G by a kilometre.

Both externally and internally.

Completely incorrect statement, and a common misconception that KWA uses to sell guns to those who don't know a thing about them.

KWAs are overrated. Get the G&G.

What about that statement is incorrect? They guarantee it from the factory and give maximum specs with what batteries to use.
KWA's are not overrated, and are better than comparable G&G's. End of story.

They advertise their guns as "lipo ready" to attract the new crowd. Sure, KWAs guns are better suited to 11.1v lipos than most other brands are, but they will still break; and unfortunately KWAs can be picky with after-market parts.

I personally avoid KWAs because of the blareing white KWA they slap on the side, but I'm weird that way.

EDIT: Beaten to the point.

I think you should just buy what you think is pretty and in your price range.
If you don't think the gun looks sexy in your hands why put it in them.
If you haven't stopped by AONW you should. They don't mind letting you play with the goodies to get a feel for what you like.
Kick me. I go "Moooooooo!!!!!"

What Nasty said, I've seen Dboys run on a 7.4v lipo, and I've run multiple G&Ps on lipos. My SCAR-L has a G&P shell and some Systema/TM parts in it, along with some stock parts, and I've been running it on a lipo for a while. I've been using a 7.4v lipo with my 551 when I've been plinking.

If no one else recalls, Jebus' KWA M16's receiver cracked when he dove holding it. From my observances, but not from any personal experiences, I've seen that KWA is nowhere near as high quality as thy are made to be. I stick with my original post:

Scrap both the G&G and KWA and get a G&P for a base.

He just used kilometre because Limpy likes to be silly.

And also because I don't understand Imperial measurements.

In order of niceness, G&G, G&P, KWA. G&Ps have the best externals by far, but internally they're a little iffy out of the box. G&G has excellent quality control and builds just plane out solid guns, but their externals aren't quite as pretty as G&Ps, but they're still better than the KWAs. KWAs aren't bad, I just think they're overrated as well.

Go for the G&G.

As an owner of an KWA SR10 the gun has been a dream so far except for the fact the hop-up had to be replaced. I've had the gun for almost a year now and that's been my only problem with it and I've used it in about 20-25 games since I've owned it. I would recommend KWA because in my personal experience it's the most reliable brand I've owned.

Thanks for the debate, I will look at the G&P too.

I really do not want to buy a gun for $300+ and have to upgrade it to make is perform, $300+ should be out of the box to the field and play. No need for new barrels and so on. Thats just what I would expect for $300+

G&P does not allow the dust cover to close on the bolt?
