Yes Mossy, If you plan on camping in one spot all day.... It'd be a great weapon.

I'm just trying to defend it's purpose in real life not airsoft.

Which, on an airsoft forum, is pretty useless...

And, if I may actually discuss the topic at hand, weight and balance do not generally concern me. How I will use the gun is up to me, what I am asking for is thoughts, recommendations, and reasonings on the different brands of M14 EBR's out there

Weight and balance of the M14 EBR are PART OF THE OPINIONS YOU ARE ASKING FOR. If you are going to argue with or disregard the input you're asking for, don't ask for it.

It will concern you after lugging that thing around for 4 or more hours. On a scale, it doesn't weigh as much as a fully loaded SAW, but it feels like it weighs more when your holding it. I ran with an E1 EBR as a DMR for about 5 months before I got tired of carrying around a gun that was 4x as heavy as a normal M4 but didn't perform much better. FYI, DMR's don't camp. They are part of the squad.

Also, the stock-end is extremely weak on the KART version. It is held on by only two cast metal 1/4"x1/8" tabs and two screws. Mine completely broke off after a minor fall.

If you take people's advice, don't get it. You will hate yourself if you use it as a DMR or even an assault rifle for that matter, and your squad will (or should) hate you if you camp all day.
For every action (Bang) there is an equal and opposite reaction (HIT!)

If you REALLY want an EBR my vote goes to the ARES. I don't own, but have had great experiences with ARES M4's, TAR 21's, and even one of their M14 EBR's. If you do indeed want to run with a squad, you would slow them down. These things are oddly weighted for shooting while standing, and don't offer any additional capacity like a SAW. Get a TAR 21 if you want something cool that has a long barrel. I don't know about adaptability, but the ARES TAR is really nice. Not a lot of moving parts, has their quick change spring (don't overuse) and *decent* internals/accuracy for a gun of its price.

Apologies, I did not mean to sound like I was disregarding or contradicting people's advice and opinions; I was attempting at that point more to bring the thread back on topic.
Apparently the G&G EBR weighs somewhere around nine pounds; this is scarcely heavier than the HK416 I currently use. So, while I did inherently ask for thoughts on weight as part of my request, I would like to state again that I am far less concerned about how much it weighs and where, so much as how well it works and how well/ with what it can be upgraded with.

I'll contribute what I can, while I fish for some information myself.

Do you have any experiences with an EBR in real life? People have mentioned them being front heavy, which is true, but it's not that it makes it hard to carry, the weight is the reason behind the problem and not the problem itself. The problem is that the weight makes it awkward, not necessarily cumbersome.

As the weapon itself is nearly five-hundred dollars, and upgrades, magazines etc will raise the price, you're dealing with a pretty significant investment. I really recommend finding someone else that owns one, and borrowing it for a game or two. You really want it to be comfortable to you, as well as liking the aesthetics of it. Anyone that owns a significant amount of real firearms will tell you that same thing if you were in the market for one.

I've carried one around Afghanistan and love them. Working on building a TM M14 into a stock conversion kit. If anyone has suggestions on what stock kit to place it in, or any other upgrades for the TM M14 I'd appreciate it as well (Money's not an object, as I am deployed at the moment and money is flowing like a shit-filled Afghan river into my bank account). I'm looking for a great project for my mid-tour leave.

Not trying to hijack the thread, just didn't want to create a second EBR thread on the same page. Figured that the OP would also find any information on the same topic useful.

I'm trying to stay away from M4 variants entirely, as I don't want to carry something around in airsoft that I carry around all day to begin with.
However, Comma

I ran an M14 EBR for one game, and one game only. I'm uncertain on the brand, since I bought it used from Top. The hicaps fed like crap, the rifle was nose-heavy like a meanie, it shot slow, and couldn't be trusted to hit a person at 30 feet. I disliked it so much that I only used it for about an hour, and spent the rest of my day running just my pistol.

The EBR is a great platform for a DMR, throw a good scope and bipod on it, but for a field gun, I wouldn't recommend it. Its great if you are going to be sitting in one spot for a while. Otherwise, go for something like the JAE stock, or just the plain old-school stock, specifically a SOCOM Scout model with a short barrel.

Where that gun is now, I don't know. I bought it from Top, used it once, sold it to Wombat, who never even fielded it, and sold it, I think to Zane, and from there I've lost it.

My dog wouldn't know what to do with a duck if she caught it, but she's cute. And hates Mexicans. +1!

I own a CA EBR at the moment I haven't played events with it yet but have had plenty of random back yard style games with it. I love it even for the odd weight. I have a vert grip on it, it seems to be easier to hold now. I really like the adjustable cheek rest and stock make the rifle fit you so nicely if you have a scope then it's almost a must. Because it makes it so much more comfortable to line up a shot. Not sure if you would want to tinker wiu that kind of set up or not. I have It armed to the teeth with a barrel extension mock gentech, PEQ-2 box, lipo battery, a bipod, vertical grip, scope, and a high cap mag. All of this make it a bit heavier but you get use to it after a while. it is solid as a rock if there is even a little wiggle anywhere I haven't noticed yet. I also love the hop up. Unlike the TM style with it in the mag well, the CA has it on top so you need to pull charging handle back and adjust then hit the realease and you get a real nice sound which I love. Mags are hard to come buy i need a few more and good luck finding them In a package deal someplace. If you go with a ebr go with a TM style mag system I will be way cheaper and easier in the long run if you can get past the hop up. I just couldn't, I have a echo 1 socom m14 and the CA ebr I've used both quite a bit just more of a ebr kinda guy. Be for warned I learned the hard way even though the EBR has a adjustable stock it still huge even stock so if your short like me it can cause you a little trouble later down the road.
