Pssh on multiple occasions. Any time dude.

If you haven't already, not a bad time to pick up a lipo alarm to prevent over-discharging your new batt.

and a lipo charging sack. Hit me at rezIII, I have both.

ScaredShooter wrote:And Nec, you probably know, but saying "have you ever.." balanced it might be kind of misleading. The battery balances itself over time by connection of cells, the concern is that they naturally charge sort of unequally. Since a normal, non-balancing charger is only reading the output voltage, it might think everything is OK when one of the cells is over-charged. But since your avatar is a LiPo you probably knew all that.
Either, I don't fully understand what you said or you have some facts mixed up, mostly the underlined sentence.

You’re saying that because of the way Lipos are wired they balance themselves?

Here is a wire schematic of a 3 cell lipo. Please describe in better detail what you are saying.

They're linked in series, that's what I mean by they're going to balance each other out slowly.

:? I think you may have some facts mixed.

If you look at the schematic of the 3 cell lipo above, the circuit is an open circuit meaning there is no current flow between the cells unless a load is applied on the output plug. Electron flow is from negative to positive and batteries produce DC current, meaning current goes out the negative and must return positive for a complete circuit. Such as in the picture below.

If your statement were true, when the battery in not under load points A and F must be connected in order to complete the circuit. They are not and if they were it would be a short circuit.Image

Now, if there is a load applied to the output plug, current flow looks like below. As current exits each cell the “out” voltage is equal to the “in” voltage plus the cell voltage. Remember bal. plug is still an open circuit.

Is it a bad Idea to buy a 9.6v NI-mH battery for my G&G gr16 blow-back?
