Discuss battery powered AEGs (Automatic Electric Guns) in this forum.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but really the KWA doesn't need anything but a tightbore barrel to be upgraded as far as most any gun can go.

I totally agree with you when it comes to the LiPo batteries, a regular 9.6v is all you need in this gun. But it's nice knowing that it has the strength and durability to use a LiPo because it will last just that much longer with a normal battery.

Some people have expressed concerns in other forums about the durability of the trigger switch when running LiPo. KWA upgraded the trigger switch and fuse when they built the gun to be able to handle the increased current flow.

My big concern with KWA is the fps. does anyone know if it's adjustable? It would be nice to be able to...turn it down.

FPS has to do with the spring, and compression seals if you're lacking in the usual area for your spring.

There are several parts you could replace in a KWA AEG to make it more reliable. Mine have lots of problems. The biggest is finding parts that fit it perfectly that aren't KWA... The trigger switch shouldn't be under any extra stress when shooting with a lipo battery over a standard one. All guns are lipo ready anyways... And lots of factors change the FPS, but you're looking to downgrade the spring.

Ok this LiPo ready thing is not 100% true. Yes all AEG CAN run LiPo HOWEVER, the internals will not last long in MOST AEG. Even KWA have issues going straight to LiPo. If you plan on going LiPo slap in a Mosfet and save your damn trigger switch. The increase in voltage and ROF may just beat the piss out of most AEG stock internals. So please dont go out and buy a KWA or CA and slap a LiPo in there because it says it can do it. Be sure your parts are up to snuff. Hell I have killed A LOT of parts on just a 9.6 in guns that say LiPo ready. I personally refuse to run LiPo in my gun just for the fact of ROF.

Getting back on topic. After doing work on a few guns and talking with a lot of people and actually holding KWA and CA i prefer the CA to a KWA. The Feel of a KWA is nice and the looks are there but a CA just felt better to me personally. Also my CA came with a 1 piece metal hop up and the KWA equivalent comes with a 2 piece and good luck swapping that out. Like a lot of people have said KWA likes KWA parts and can be a pain to upgrade. My CA has A LOT of upgrades both internal and external and I have used many different manufactures on it with 0 issues. I will admit I had some parts go bad on me within the first few times of using it but the guys at S4 replaced them at no charge as they never should have broken. (By the way S4 = good people). After that I have not had 1 issue with the gun. I haven’t even had a jam with the thing yet. Even after 4000+ rounds through it.

+1

And the winner is......(drumroll, please).....personal preference!

There is no substitute for holding the guns in your hands. Like Obi-Wan says, "Let the Force guide you, Luke."

To Big_Red: The KWA aeg's don't like it when you change the springs. (leastwise, that's what I've heard) Can anyone verify?

Also here is a link to all the parts that are compatible with KWA M4 series

yeah That's what Variable said to me earlier. We were discussing replicas with oversized spring guides, he mentioned KWA. The new CA X series has an extra wide spring guide, at least the ones I've tinkered with, so if you want to swap springs you might have to swap spring guides too.

I've found that 11.1v LiPo packs + bone stock internal CA CQB SEAL + realcap mags = lots of good training on reloading under stress.

Not sure how hard / easy it is to upgrade internally, as I haven't had to do anything to it yet, after at least 100k rounds through it.

I know the rail system is within M1913 spec, though, since multiple RS accessories have mounted rock-solid to the various rails.

Stock CA performance for me has been a bit aenemic, though. I chrono at right around 300 FPS. Great for a CQB gun, but lower tan I would be looking for for an outdoor gun.

At one point in the past, before some Pakistani assholes stole it, I had a CA MP5-SD5 upgraded to well over 600 FPS built out by AONW. It ran flawlessly on a LiPo pack. It was never used in an AP-sanctioned event, nor would it have been. But it shows a good example of the range of upgrade parts available.

I have a super broken in Guarder SP110 in my KWA SPR and it seems to work fine... But that's pretty interesting. What problems would pop up if you didn't use a proper size spring in a gun with an over sized spring guide?

The insides of the spring can rub on the post on the spring guide if it is too fat. This means that there's a little bit of extra resistance and less benefit from the bearing.

Not only that, but it seems like there might be some issues with the spring actually sticking to the spring guide due to friction and thus causing a slight drop in FPS.

This is merely a guess though. Anyone else have any idea?

Great contribution.

Yes, G&G's are decent, but I think CA and KWA are both better than G&Gs.

Agreed. I know of 1 G&G M4 that locks up the gearbox like crazy. It has been looked at by 3 airsmiths (I think), and it still will do it.

For me CA>KWA. I've had no issues with my CA (other then the previous owner being a dumbass, but thats not CA's fault). I do know of 3 KWA M4's that have come out of the box with fractured hop ups and torn buckings. There were brand new KWA's.

I think that KWA has great potential, but they are still to young to be 100% trustworthy. Mind you I don't even think that CA is 100% trustworthy, but they are moreso then CA. However, like has been said, if you like the KWA, get the KWA. If you like the CA, get the CA.

Philosophy of use here is important. Total cost of ownership is another.

If you don't want to upgrade guns, and don't mind the finish of the KWA then it doesn't matter. Advantage KWA....400 fps out of the box. It is cheaper over the long run to have a gun do what you want out of the box.

I did notice in mine that the selector switch has been off an on (single fire is sometimes auto, sometimes single). I dropped it, cracked the barrel and had it replaced with a tight bore. My whole thought was to not modify it and use it till it craps out. It has been a few years and I haven't had to do a thing to it. If it dies I will just buy a brand new one. By now they seem to have fixed the selector switch, I can keep the batteries and the mags and just switch out the $300.00 gun. I started out with a CA M4 years ago and they were crap. To me, the problem is the upgrades and tinkering. So far, my KWA has been 100% reliable, competetive range-wise, and accurate. Every time I take it to the chrono and see it at 399 or 395 I am extremely pleased because I remember the CA experience of...damn.....got to take it back to the shop to get it to 400fps. Maybe CAs with upgrades can handle it. But it was KWA that did it first so I think they are a step ahead. It is good to see that people trust CA's. I even won one a new CA in a raffle but I decided to sell it because it sounded less solid than my KWA. For me, it has already been worth the money because it has been my workhorse for a few years now.

The only thing better would be a KWA you could swap out to switch between CQB velocities and MOUT games. Then one gun could do it all....for less.

i have a G&G combat machine and it works great, no jams or failures. Yours was probably just a lemon. But anyway back on topic, i think KWA are better internally but CA are better with externals. IMO of coarse.
