So I picked out a lipo
http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh ... oduct=7344
Is this an ok battery?
Does this look like it will fit in a PEQ box?
If not what is the maximum sized battery that will fit?

Looks like it'll fit, but I'm pretty sure that battery is wired to a Deans, so you'll have to swap the connectors on the gun, or get a converter.

Another question: Is it safe to have my battery die on me with a lipo like a NiMh? Or will it have a failure if I do? If so, how do i prevent or know when its gonna die?

i'm fairly certain (no expert) that that will cause an over discharge witch is almost as bad as an overcharge. i think thats what a lipo alarm is for, it beeps when the battery is low.

so yeah, a Lipo Alarm should help you to not overdischarge the battery.
forgive my ignorance, it happens to everyone.

You need to do more research if you are going to be using LiPo batteries.

You need to measure the space inside the PEQ box to see what batteries will fit.

This is a LiPo alarm that will beep when the voltage drops to the point at which you need to stop using it. Completely draining a LiPo battery will destroy it.

The battery you linked at the top of this page is wired to XT60 plugs. As I said before, they are the Chinese replacement for Deans because Deans wouldn't let them use their fake ones. Supposedly they are just as good, but you'd have to replace the connectors in the gun. Commonality of connectors in your arsenal is a good thing, no matter what type they are.

Ah thanks for clarifying. I didn't know exactly what to do with it. This is why I've stuck with NiMh's for years. Thanks again Jester :)

I'm also coming off of a LiPo hate train... but you just need to understand how to use them for them to work.

ONLY CHARGE A LIPO WITH A LIPO CHARGER!

The second plug on all lipo batteries are there to plug into the lipo charger. You NEVER charge a lipo off the deans/tamiya plug.
Most lipo chargers will stop charging after the pack is full, so you don' t need to worry about leaving it on the charger and exploding. Be sure to keep the battery dry and don't allow it to get punctured.

Will the charger suggested earlier in the thread stop charging when it reaches its maximum charge?

I have been charging my LIPOs on the deans just fine.

Some Chargers use the discharge to charge it (Dean, XT60, TAMIYA).

http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh ... oduct=7028 This is the charger is use, its very easy to use, can do LIPO, NIHM, NICAD(For you're noob friends, ;) ) You will need to order a charger supply for it.

If you want more info, you can PM me!

how much of a ROF do you want? with a G&P 120 motor and a 100 spring you should get 20 to 25 BBPS with a 9.6v if you want use a 10.8v or even a 12vNiMh. I have a G&P Tank with a 10.8v and a 110 spring and the ROF is 18.8 BBPS.
If you go LIPO do not get a wall charger you should spend the money and get a charger that does it all lipo NiMh NiCad I bought mine of cheapbatterypack.com for $65.00 easy to use. GOOD LUCK
