L85 vs M16

Postby Deathlycobra » Mon Jan 25, 2010 8:43 pm

I was wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of having a L85/M16 and was wondering which weapon system would you prefer.

L85 is shorter overall with the same inner barrel length. M16 is more widely known.

It's 100% operator preference to me, because your basically comparing oranges and bananas in my mind.

I agree with Valentine. One benefit to the L85 design is that it can be easily operated while using one hand. A small benefit in movement and reloading. But again it is up to you.

One other thing. Most people don't have one, so would have a more unique weapon.

you can't customize l85's. m16's give you more freedom. l85's to me were awkward to hold for me. susats are really expensive. it's mostly your choice but if you like your guns with attachments then go for an m16. if your going to use it for outdoors then you don't need your guns compact. i had to make this decision, i chose m16, i got bored, lucky you you got G&G coming out with 2. hopefully they fixed the blow back problem that it had. but of course if to you l85's look better than m16's then get the l85. do what you want. like valentine said it's like comparing apples to oranges.

I guess that is true, it i the operator's choice. Isn't it true that the L85 takes a custom battery?

Who the heck says oranges and bananas? It apples and oranges fella.

I'd take the L85 for the unique and shortness factor.

Yeah it takes a weird one. Here is a G&G example:

I know it is out of stock. Deathlycobra asked what kind of battery the L85 took so I gave an example.

I like the L85 but it seems a bit back heavy and changing mags was awkward for me( used to M4). Used to use a M16, IMO.. too long of a barrel.

its back heavy for a reason, GB and action is all there. use nun chucks and keep it in the hand guard only fish out the tamiya when you need to recharge it. your cheaper route is to get the ares one with metal gearboxes their doing now the ICS im staying away from as well as the G&G. ICS isnt making a susat. G&G, they made a susat and ares so far is out of stock.but their very heavy optics. you can get a dove tail to picatinny easily though. remember this is a right handed gun. there is slightly more room if you get a custom cut barrel in there the m4 barrel is shorter then the length of the outter barrel by a tad.

You all are silly.

Get an M-16. Why? Because that's what the GOOD GUYs use. Good Lord, is it any simpler than that?

In seriousness, yeah--effectively on the airsoft field, they're functionally the same. As several have said, handle them both and get what feels right.

I already have a M4 :D

If I got a L85, it'd be the ARMY L85. I'm also aware of the blowback issue, so I'm going to disable it. Also what the magazine capabilities with the L85? I heard you have to do something a magazine to get them to fit.
