Help with CA G36

Postby firemedic2296 » Sun Jan 31, 2010 12:23 am

I have a CA G36 that has stopped cycling. It just clicks when you pull the trigger, I have it apart and the motor works when out of gear box. I have not taken the gear box apart, the spring is in the back or tension position. How do I release the spring tension and why is it doing this. Do I need to take the gear box apart, and if so then what is the best way to do it.
Thanks,

Have you checked the battery? And you may want to get a airsmith to take apart your g36 gearbox(if you end up having to), because the trigger system is a B**CH to reassemble.

Sounds like your gearbox is locked up. Easiest way to unlock it is to take a dental pick (or some sort of curved utensil) stick it up through the whole that the motor goes in, and try to pop open the anti-reversal latch. The spring will snap forward, the gears will unwind, and everything should be kosher again.

If this is indeed the case, then you might want to have it looked at so as to avoid this problem in the future. If you are in the Corvallis/Albany/Philomath area, I can do it for you. If you are in the Portland area there are 2 shops (Airsoft Outlet North West and S-4 Tactical) that both have very experienced techs who can fix your gun for you.

I did that, and it unwound, and then when I tried to fire, it did the same thing. I live in eastern Oregon near the tricities.

Check your battery. If that is not the issue I would suggest getting someone to open it up for you.

Hmmm. Few more questions: How old is the gun? Did it work properly before, and just start doing it randomly? Are you're using a fully charged battery? How comfortable are you taking things apart?

And G36FTW, your posts have been next to useless. Yes, the gun is jammed, that's why it isn't working. He wants to know WHY it's jammed. Please stop posting useless advice.

Sorry... :(

Anyway- Lets start with pointing out that is is most likely a dead battery. How old is your battery? Did you fully charge it?- And if you did what kind of charger are you using?

If your battery isent sending out enough power (amps) the motor will try to turn over (clicking sound), and will slightly depress the spring (why releising the anti-reversal switch didn't work). Try another battery, I'd put few a few bucks that that's your problem.

The G36 is almost a year old, and has not been heavily used. This is the first time it has done this. the battery was charged but getting low, when i tried it in my sons CA M4 it worked fine but was a little slow. I tried a fully charged battery and that didn't help until I released tension. I got it working but then found that the set screw for the motor pinion gear is missing and POSSIBLY is in the gearbox. I am trying to decide if i want to take it apart or bring it to S-4 Tactical(Where i bought it)and have them look at it.

Bring it into S4, I'll have a quick look at it and see what the deal is.

This. Bill is an awesome airsmith, and will make your gun sing like, well, I don't know.

I'll have to send it to you, I'm not going to be down that way for a while, we were thinking of trying to come down for the game on the 20th, but not sure yet.
Thanks

I was having the same issue few days ago, the motor(G&P M120) was running when I took it out, but couldn't cycle the gearbox (only made clicking sound).
I put in a Chinese motor in there, then the gun was able to cycle.
I threw the GnP motor into the trash, I think I just bought a lemon.

I"m not sure if mine is related to the set screw or not, the gear box should be taken apart to see if it is still in there. I really like my G36, so I hope it is something simple like that. I'm tempted to take it apart myself since I live so far from Portland (eastern Oregon) just in case it is that simple. What do you think?
