Aftermath secret service

Postby Ha-y-n basterd » Tue Feb 02, 2010 2:36 pm

Well I wanted to buy a new replica, but my wife say it's unnecessary. So since I can't buy a new one I'm planning on fully upgrading my aftermath mp5. I'm ready to spend $400 on internal and external parts since that's how much the replica I wanted cost. People been telling me that aftermath is capable of being upgraded but I wasn't to sure. Thats why I'm making this post. If it is upgradable, so far I'm set on getting a fully built systema gearbox. As for the motor, cylinder set, spring, etc... I have no idea. I don't really care about fps, I'm looking for reliability, rof and accuracy. I would like to know your opinion on what upgraded parts I should get and why. I also want to interchange the parts myself so if anything goes wrong with the replica I don't have to take it to a gun smith. So a how to section would be nice too. Thanks for your help.

Show your wife this:

Aftermath is not worth the upgrades. A new gun will be more cost effective and cheaper in the long run.

Wait what is the difference between spending 400 on upgrades then rather a new gun?

Because with the new gun, you won't have to put countless hours into making new parts mesh correctly with no prior experience, or have a nice gearbox in a body that sucks and will break anyways. Not knowing how or what to do is a good way to waste $400 in parts that need to be replaced because the job wasn't done properly.

That's retarded. And i think she would notice if there were about 400 dollars worth of purchases on the credit card bill.

You could buy another MP5 and then trash the aftermath. Would she really be able to tell the difference?

Thats why I said a how to section would be nice. I rather learn how to do things myself then pay someone else to do it. It's like changing a broken part on your car, It's alot cheaper to do it yourself and you learn things along the way.

LMAO, you and i are in the same boat, too funny...i'm dealing with exactly the same thing.
The wife won't see charges on my 'man account', so as long as the rifle in the corner looks the same i'm free 'n clear. ;)

There are some links in the stickies for breaking down an AEG which are helpful for getting a look at internals.
As far as improvements with accuracy & reliability how 'bout a tight bore barrel and the hop bits (i.e. H nub etc)?

Why don't you get a man cave dug in the back yard and hide all your guns there? Or say you traded and get a new one.

Does anyone else find it funny that the 14-year-old thinks it's "retarded" and all of us older guys have ideas for him?

I have no experience with upgrading your MP5. However, you've been given some good advice here. What works around my house is explaining roles--the MP5 is for indoor games, the M4/AK/whatever is for outdoor games. That's how I got both....

I had more trouble, ironically, explaining an airsoft pistol than any other real steel or airsoft gun.

Another part, the exterior build quality in a not-aftermath gun will be better than an aftermath gun. If you're going to spend $400 then you're going to spend $400, plain and simple.

My advice is to just buy a new replica and beg for forgiveness and claim its an addiction like gambling.

My wife quit getting angry with me about 6 or 7 replicas later.

In airsoft getting new toys is always necessary.
