Help with first airsoft gun

Postby shooter7 » Fri Feb 05, 2010 11:30 pm

This is my first airsoft gun and I have a question.

http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/ProductDetail?prodID=27530

It says in the description
The RWC Defender runs off an 8mm gearbox on a G&P M120 High Speed Motor

I was wondering if that meant that it shot 8mm BBs instead of the normal 6mm BBs.

It still fires standard 6mm BBs, it means that the bushings on the gearbox are 8mm, rather than 6mm or 7mm.

Ok thank you. Shows you how much I know about these things :D

Up until this point I've been exclusively paintball, but I am joining an airsoft team.

You made a good choice with the gun though. The gears might need replacing at some point though...

Great rifle, the increased size of bushings increases the capable rof of the gearbox.

Thank you, I didn't know what the bushing size corresponded to.

That is a very nice rifle, and a really good price for an RWC weapon. Good choice, IMO. As far as I've heard, the G&P M120 motor is a very nice one, and you should have no problems with pulling a strong spring i.e. M120.

I don't know how your rof will be with just a 7.4 though, I guess you'll just have to wait and see!

BTW: great move switching to airsoft ;)

That is a great choice of a gun. G&P has excellent bodies and the internals on this gun are very nice too. You'll be enjoying airsoft a lot.

Welcome to the wonderful hobby of airsoft. Hopefully you won't be disappointed. (You shouldn't be with that gun ;) )

That said:
Kingy,
RWC does not stand for G&P. It's a Red Wolf Custom gun, with G&P internals.

I know it is a RWC. So the body is not G&P?

IIRC, G&P does not make a VLTOR body. Could be wrong though.

You're correct. King Arms makes an VLTOR Body.

Nice pick on your first AEG. Most people get the first thing they can afford for $150, and then the "help with first gun" posts are usually to the tune of something broken.

G&P does in fact make a VLTOR style metal body. Redwolf has them in stock
