I'd buy a CYMA AK over a Dboys.

The only CYMA AKM I opened up had pretty good internals for that price range.... It shot really well. Compression was really good. 460FPS with an M120-ish rated spring is what I've heard.

Why would you want 460 anyways? No field will allow that.

I looked over a CYMA AK 74u and was realy dissapointed with it. The new ones (like the AIMs i wanna purchase) look ok, but the gearbox in the cyma is complete garbage. Fact is, the CYMA GB bend, and they are not fully TM clones ( parts dont fit right).

And that is why i put AK 74u, there is a build difference between the two.

@king, Its not really the fact that you dont want the 460 FPS, its the fact that it can handle that. My DBOYS AK came in at 450 FPs, thats crazy high, and the ROF was still higher than the real steel. I always saw the FPS range (if it was accurate) as a stress test.

Good point, thanks for clearing it up.

Sorry to high jack the thread, but here is some info you may find (and others may find usefull).

I believe this is the Gearbox MOST CYMAs use. I didnt see this in the AK 74u, but i imagine the old GB is worse than the new ones. This should be in the AK 74, AK 74s, AKM, New version AK 74u, AIMs : ( , And all the new russian AKs.

1: This area is formed wrong, and if you screw the grubs too much it will lock the piston back when fired( OMG, i could not figure it out when this happened, i was really confused with the symptons.) So you have to leave it loose in order for it to cycle fully.

2: This area was not reinforced, it looks similier to the DBOYS one, but was really a weak point, and the fact that this area is also the back bone of the pistol grip, its not good.

3: This was the worst part. I took the GB apart over 20 times trying to figure this one out, but its not really fixable. The contacts on the trigger are not TM cloned, they wont fit other brands, Dboys, element. Also, the selector switch would not lock into SEMI, and when i would fix it to work in SEMI, FA would not work, back and forth.

The internas were ok. The pston is really heavy for a poly piston, and started to show wear after about 4000, where as both my Dboys pistons (one is at 20,000 RNDS) is showing no wear n tear. The piston head WOULD NOT COME OFF. It uses a different setup where the screw was in front of the head instead of inside the piston, and it just turn the "nut" inside and not unscrew it to come off.

I am certain that this is the newer GB for CYMAs, as all the newer CYMAs reviews have this GB. and a lot of the newer cymas also have EBB, which this has the slot on the side for. This picture does not, but it has the same markings as the one i bought.

So in conclusion, A DBOYS AK will do you better. If more proof is needed, i can provide.
