Echo 1 master series MK5A4

Postby Ha-y-n basterd » Fri Feb 12, 2010 12:28 am

Does anyone out there have or tried this replica out? I'm thinking about purchasing this product, and would like to know if it's a good buy or not. Pro's and con's would be nice. I already did some seaches and they all had good thing's to say about the mk5a4. Then I read some post that say's never buy Echo 1. I'm confused.

People who say "NEVER buy an Echo-1" should be ignored. The Master Series is a damn nice gun. I don't see many come into the shop for repairs, with the majority of those coming in for service being to have the spring downgraded in the indoor gearbox.

The stock in the A5 can get a bit wobbly, but since you're considering the A4 that's not an issue. Run it on a 9.6v and get yourself a couple of spare magazines.

I have the Master Series one with the full stock and I love my gun. It all depends where you will be playing. I liked it for the quick switching mechboxes where if I went to ivans skirmishes where he often has indoor and outdoor FPS limits it took no moore then 2-3 minutes to get the gun shooting either speed.

Nice gun, it is based on the G&G MP5, so it has a quick disassembly body (lower receiver just comes right out) and not those annoying spilt-body marui types such as the JG. The extra gearbox is a huge plus if you dont like to do your own mechbox work/spring changes.

In fact I'm selling a brand new MS5A4 right now... :)

The gearbox is kinda what got me. I think it's pretty cool how you can just switch them out. How's the reliability and durability of the gun.

I would expect durability to be pretty good. I own a CYMA version (also a direct clone of the G&G so they are the same gun really), and I have had no issues running a 11.1v lipo in it.

The master series also features a low-profile RIS rail mount base, so you dont have to go out and buy a claw mount (which are usually clunky imo).
Personally, I like the QD flash hider design (even though it doesn't do anything other than protect the threads for suppressors/barrel extensions) on the small flash hider), its nice being able to have the large type on there and then take if off in just a few seconds and screw on a mock suppressor. Also it looks cool. :D

Bottom line, I don't think you will be disappointed if you get one.

I was just wondering how's the balance of the collapsible mk5a4? Is it a big difference then the fixed stock. I'm asking because eventually want to buy a bolt action and wanted to use the mk5a4 as a secondary.

There isn't a huge difference balance wise, but you will probably have to move the battery to the front of the gun if you put an A5 stock on it. That being because most Mp5a4s come with the battery wires in the stock.

(a4=full stock, a5=retractable stock)

no, you have it completely backwards. The A5 has the extendable stock, requiring the battery in the front grip. The A4 has the full stock.

That is a good catch, I had no idea. But do you guy's think a fixed stock would be to bulky to use as a secondary weapon.

When you say secondary, do you mean as a sidearm? Or a back up gun in case your primary stops working?

As a sidearm, a full mp5 is to big. The Mp5K is about the biggest you'll want. As a back up, I'd say use the collapsible stock. I loved being able to shorten my mp5 up and stuff it into a backpack or duffel bag.

I own a P90, and I still think THAT is way too big for a secondary. It's just really bulky if you keep it slung all the time. You could go for one of KWA's new MP9's...

More like a sidearm. I wanted to get either a TM L96 or a CA M24 and also carry the mp5. I wasn't planning on carrying both of them all the time, but in certain games that call for it I can benefit more using both replica's. That is also why I was looking into the echo 1 mp5a5 or a4 so I can use it for cqb or outdoor.

I tried doing that with an MP7 slung behind me and even that felt way to big.
