Guns for Girls

Postby CalvinB » Fri Feb 12, 2010 3:04 pm

My girlfriend wants to get her first airsoft gun in the near future. She is about 5'4 and not super buff so I have to consider a few things, first, she has short arms so the stock either has to be adjustable or fairly short, secondly, it can't be too heavy, she has no issue with my full metal MP5SD, but nothing like an M14 EBR. It is going to be a field gun, so minimum of 363mm barrel.

So now that we have the actually important stuff, she has a few limitations too, no M4's no G36s, and no P90's.

So far we can narrowed it down to, M14 scout/SOCOM, Masada, SCAR L, Tactical AK. Is there anything that you all can think of?

Just another gun thought, i dont know if you have thought of this. I think the AUG is perfect. It has a M16 barrel length (508mm). It light made out of plastic but good plastic. and it comes with a folding forgrip and a 3x optic on it and if she wants to put a red dot on it just get a new receiver

If she's thinking about getting into it seriously (or if you are seriously into airsoft and you like the SOC16), I'm considering selling my SOC16 package (mags, scope, accessories, etc).

If you're going to go to war against a major enemy, go; knock the hell out of him fast, and go in there to kill him and get it over with.

You should just take her down to ASONW and let her fondle a bunch of them. Actually picking them up and trying them for fit and feel will be your best bet.

A word of caution on the SOCOM 16's, they can weigh a good amount, if they have a full metal rail system on the front.

It is common knowledge.

Has she played yet? If you aren't absolutely sure she's going to get into it, don't blow a lot of money on buying her a gun. You could just buy you a gun and let her use it whenever she plays.

SIG 552 would be a nice lightweight, compact gun. Also, the JG SIG 552 is pretty cheap.

An MP5 of any make or model is your typical "girly gun". Every girl I've ever played with has liked the feel of the MP5; lightweight, ergonomic, easy to use. There are tons of economical options for MP5s.

G36C, P90, or possibly a stubby M4.

And i just so happen to have a G36c she can use for a bit until a decision is made...

Way to go!

MP5's are great. I think the SCAR is a good choice as well, most of them are V2 mechboxes, fairly light for an assault rifle, and sturdy.

Another option is something like a UMP.

And: Nice Matt, Nice :)

Well get her to feel up some guns and see what form factor she likes. Just like any other newbie. The fact she's a girl shouldn't change anything.

I did read the thread, I'm not an asshole and a moron.

To my personal experience, her body type would be very comfortable with those replicas (G36C, P90, and short M4's), especially if she is planning on participating at an OP that is three to four hours long. But exceptions like my girlfriend that loved to sling an EBR.

Take her to AONW one day and have her feel every gun in the store till she finds one she likes.

I think it's strange that you are asking for a gun for a small framed girl - and you specifically mention that you don't want something heavy. Yet, you rule out 3 very viable options, while saying that you've narrowed it down to 3 very heavy options. While everyone else is also suggesting heavy guns, like the AUG and the SOC16 (ha!). This is completely backwards.

Get her an M249 or a Vulcan. Shit.
