Can you tweak trigger response time?

Postby MuGGzy » Wed Mar 10, 2010 9:23 am

I just got my G&G SCAR and it is SICK, however, like the G36, there is a lag when I pull the trigger.
Admittedly I am a noob so forgive me if this is stupid and "just how AS guns are". I am used to either CO2 pellet guns, or HPA Paintball guns where the second you pull the trigger a projectile is released. When I pull the trigger on an AEG gun there is a split second lag where I can hear the motor "whir" before the first BB is shot down the barrel, it isn't an immense amount of time but feel like it if I am thinking in terms of reflex shooting at something when I only have a .05 second to make a shot and get back in cover.

Are there upgrades to motors, trigger wiring, circuits or whatever that can tune this trigger delay?

I think the Options are Upgrade batterys, New High torque motor, or High speed gear set... (im not sure about the last one.

I'm sure a high speed motor would help, but the problem is the piston in the motor is pushed all the way forward by default. To fire, the motor has to pull it back then let it fire forwards again. Thats always going to to cause a tiny bit of lag, even with a fast motor.

I would go with a better battery, One with higher voltage. For example a Lithium Polymer battery has a response time that is 1/20 of a second in most AEG's.

Try looking up Mosfet. Should be several threads on here about it and other airsoft places. I think that will help you out. Better response and even burst fire options.

Go with a lipo battery, preferably with a high(ish) C rating . I get great trigger response with mine. Also, a mosfet would help.

Nez has it down. I say go for Extreme Fire's computerized stuff. Great response. Also, I'd advise switching to some form of Lithium battery, as well as upgrading to Deans. Me rikey deans....

Yeah, go LIPO. It makes a huge difference in my opinion. I have been using loaners guns (thanks guys!) and now with my KWA KM4 RIS with a 3s, sorry....11.1v 1600mag LIPO, it is insane how fast the response and rate of fire are. What battery are you using now with the gun?

From my understanding, the TM PSG-1 and the L85 (not sure which brand) build in the solution to the issue you're encountering. These models keep the piston in the back position between shots while in use so that, upon pulling the trigger, the pistol is simply released and then pulled back after the shot is fired. This puts the lag time of pulling the piston back after your first shot. In situation where you need just one shot before ducking back into cover, this mechanic solves your problem (if I understand you correctly). This is the opposite of how most airsoft guns work which take the time to pull the piston back before each shot (like Grease said).

As funds and interest allow, I'd look into these guns for a factory-built solution.

Otherwise, you might be able to retrofit this mechanic into your AEG. Electronics such as this are far from my knowledge base, and others will be better at discussing such options. But, if you can mimic the mechanic of having the piston held back as seen in the mentioned guns, that will solve the issue.

Can someone tell me (and MuGGzy) which brand(s) of L85 work this way? Are there any other AEGs that build in this mechanism?

Hey Poly, I think I could figure it out, it has to do with the semi-auto cutoff lever. If this can be set up so that it is in the opposite position of regular style gearboxes, you could do it successfully. I'll try looking into this later today, going to try to take some pictures of my Thunder B for help with someone's plastic washer problem. I'll check it while I'm at home.
