Postby DaNnY4886 » Tue Mar 16, 2010 4:56 pm

hello, i am undecided over the kart m14 jae long, kart m14 ebr long, cyma m14 long, jg sig 550, and dboys spr. any help deciding would be greatly appreciated. i am looking for the best gun to put a tbb in and use as a dmr. or if you have anyother gun in mind you would recomend under $200 before upgrades.

Kart M14 JAE or CYMA M14.

I had a KART M14 EBR and it was way too heavy for normal use. It only weighed 13lbs, but all of it was up front which made it a pain to shoulder. The JG Sig isn't bad, but mags are pretty expensive. The Dboys SPR isn't bad either. I've worked with it before and it's a decent replica. I just like the V7 gearbox over the V2.

A&K SR25 or full length M14. G&G M14 are great to have. They have a sturdy gearbox with 7mm and one 8mm ball bearing. So you got great bearings for whatever upgrade you're going to do. Mine has a TBB and it shoots right at 400fps.

IMO, an Effective DMR can't be built from just a long rifle and a TBB.

If I was to build a DMR, using a lot of money, I'd probably start with a TM M14, as I've heard their hop ups are fantastic.

Very true that. It takes a lot of tweaking, adjusting, and parts to get a good DMR.

The TM style hop up is decent. I didn't like it all that much when I had it, but it wasn't bad. Just a bit hard to work with. Kart and CYMA use the same hopup.

I like the Sig 550 and considered getting one for a while.

Lower quality, but same build. I am replacing the unit on my KART ASAP (read: when it's in stock somewhere when I have the money) with a TM original.

I wouldn't start with any of the AEGs the original poster listed. With budget AEGs you're going to find that little tiny differences you won't notice on first inspection make a huge difference when it comes to consistency and accuracy. It also makes them slightly non-ideal bases to add aftermarket parts to. In the end, if you really want an accurate airsoft gun for a DMR, a cheap gun is going to be more expensive than a quality AEG. If you just want to go shoot and look cool, pick whichever you like. If you want to achieve above average accuracy, save up and spend $250-$380 on a base gun. CA or G&G M14 can be had for under $300, Tokyo Marui M14 or G&G SIG 550 are also good choices.

True going for a low end gun will cost more in the long run when trying to upgrade it to its full potential.

However, for those who really like the look of the M14 with the JAE-100 stock, KART is your only option as far as I know of.

CA SVD or a CA M14 depending on the loadout you prefer.

Just as a vote, I've seen an upgraded SVD that put out unbelievable accuracy. I like those for a semi-auto DMR.

The only reason I vote against the TM PSG-1 isn't that it's a bad gun, but it's that, in order for it to be everything you want, you'll probably spend about $500 above the price of the gun. It's one of the more expensive options.

A true DMR can use a long rifle and a TBB, because thats what a DMR is basically, a person who moves with the rest of the body of people but is a little bit more accurate than the rest of the yahoo's that just pray and spray and has a little bit longer reach .
