Star Magazine in CA Problems

Postby Shepherd » Thu Oct 14, 2010 1:09 pm

Being cheap I bought I bunch of Star M16 style realcap magazines for my TM M16. Worked great for years.

Then I out grew my TM and upgraded to both a CA 249 and CA M4. The Star magazines do not work so great in either. I might get an occasional shot. Then nothing unless I rock the magazine forward and backwards in the magazine well. The rocking only produces a few more shots before I have to rock again.

Are CA's known for loose magazine wells? Is there a quick fix to use Star magazines in CA's?

Thanks

The bb catch in the magazine isn't being fully pushed out of the way by the lower part of the hop up. I'm having the same issue with some of my Pmags in a Dboys m4, but haven't figured out how to fix it. It needs a longer hop up chamber.

C. FLETCHER

Product Information:
I bought one of these mags a few weeks ago, and after hearing ...more>> that they dont really work in some M4 variants I was hesitant. I went ahead and ordered one anyways. When it arrived i loaded it up and tested it out. It didnt feed to well in my gun, it miss fired alot and would only work if i kept adjusting it. I remedied this by sanding the top hole where the mag and hop unit meet. After sanding it flush with the little spring loaded bb retention clip, I squirted some silicon lube inside and loaded it up. I went outside and tested it first by firing a few shots on semi auto and they fed good, I then switched to auto and it worked flawlessly.

Do that mod and they will work great... just keep testing them until they work

I recomend these to people but I warn them about the issues

Thats a review from ASGI I remember reading a while back. Possible fix to problem?

I had trouble getting Star mags to feed in my ICS M4. I put electrical tape on the the rear spine the length of the mag that goes into the magwell.

Now it feeds fine.
