Lipo Batteries

Postby mgentile7@yahoo.com » Fri Nov 19, 2010 8:03 pm

Im getting back to Airsoft and have lost track of the new Lipo batteries. Anyone care to share their expertise about the use, plus/minus of these new batteries?

well it still remains the WORLDS MOST DANGEROUS BATTERY according to this post on YouTube.

...besides that, a 11.1v lipo battery can give you a significant increase on rate of fire. But a lipo battery can wear the internal parts of your AEG at a quicker phase.

Thanks for the reply Virus. Im aware of the potential risks of battery explosions. As for wear issues, most of my guns are upgraded with highend internals so im not worried about wear and tear. That goes along with the higher voltage. I once saw a video of a gun hooked up to a car battery, now that looked rough on the internals. What im most curious about is do the batteries last longer?

A quality, reliable charger greatly minimizes the risk.

Everyone I know who has gone Lipo loves it.
I only recently made the jump and so far so good.

Do they last longer? I've been using this battery:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=6195
11.1v 1300mah Lipo and I can finish a 4k bag of BBs and still have enough charge (you don't want to over discharge lipo anyway). Speaking of over discharge I saw some Lipo alarm which will notify you when your Lipo is almost running low. Other device module attachments cuts the power on your AEG when your Lipo runs low - almost similar to a Lipo alarm.

A mosfet would also be a good investment if you're using Lipo batteries.

After many trials and errors I found the best thing to do would be to get a lipo of your choice (I like my 7.4 2000 mah), convert to deans, and get a reliable smart/safe charger.

Trust everyone that says "once you go lipo, you never go back".

If you have any specific questions about you feel free to ask.

Lipos are easy to take care of and are worth the money. Just keep in mind the risk

You have a Nano-tech Lipo?!
If you do, please share your experience with them,I'm very interested in them and wonder if they are as advertised.

Don't fear lipos. It is pretty simple really:

1) Don't over charge.
2) Don't over discharge.
3) Don't dent or puncture.
4) Always charge in a lipo sack or similar containment bag or container.
5) Always use the proper charger for lipos, with balancing capabilities.

As mentioned, once you go lipo, you won't go back. I have been using lipos for a couple of years now in my RC trucks and have not had any issue at all, and my last truck used two 2s 8000mah packs at a time.

I have both the regular lipo and nano-tech lipo. the nano-tech does run stronger for longer and only starts to slow down right as it can't turn my aeg motor anymore unlike my other lipo where it starts out super fast then slows down after a couple thousand rounds

How do run a lipo down to the point that it can't even turn your motor, but not destroy the pack? If it can't turn the motor, there is no way it is staying above 2.7v per cell. Can you please clarify?
