Magpul Masada tuning

Postby REVEREND.RECKLESS » Thu Jan 27, 2011 11:17 pm

I have a Masada made by magpul, and I just got it and installed a tight bore barrel, and the bbs seem to pull to the right at about 50 feet. What are some suggestions to correct this error?

Did you check it before you inserted it into the gun?

Try reseating the hop up.

what kind did you order? can i use the all metal 3 in 1? was wanting to install the led flasher if so...

also i replaced the bucking with a madbull (blue one), and i installed a madbull tight bore and m110 spring right outta the box... it rails em out just fine... i just need accuracy... the barrel is clean and the bucking is seated properly

I never got great results with my Madbull barrel. Try the original.

You're probably talking about the A&K. I've never seen aftermarket hopups for the PTS Masadas.

Still having hop up issues... Non PTS magazines only feed half the time... Sucks to be firing blanks when pinned down... And when they do go, it seems like every other round hooks pretty hard... This also only seems to happen with bio ammo... Which is normally used during events.... I've seen these guns working tits... So I know it's possible to get mine there... I hate the idea of spending 500 bucks on a well made wall hanger.

I was BS'ing with Jesse (Shogun) over @AONW over the PTS ACR & he noted that the design of the hopup can sometimes puts pressure on the side, causing some shots to deviate sideways. I'd try contacting him regarding the deails.

This review addresses the hopup unit issue I believe Jesse is talking about.
http://www.acmeairsoft.com/showthread.php?t=10178

Issues/ Fixes:

The biggest issue that I have with the gun is that the shots on the model I'm reviewing tended to swerve to the right. Taking the lower receiver off, looking through the upper receiver, and into the hop chamber reveals that the inner barrel and hop bucking is canted over to thr right by a little bit which then causes for the shots to swerve to the right.

Taking the outer barrel off, filing part of the inner barrel clip, and turning the outer barrel/hop bucking to the left corrected the shooting issue.

I fixed my full-auto feeding issues by installing a homemade sector clip. You can have a tech install one for fairly cheap.
The way the hopup is designed allows the inner barrel to turn just enough to either left or right, and that's where your weird spins are coming from. I fixed this same issue in mine by wrapping some teflon tape around the bucking and inner barrel and then installing it into the rest of the hopup. Not only do you eliminate that point as a potential loss of compression but the inner barrel will fit tighter inside the hopup unit, disallowing it to turn as freely when doing normal maintenance like swabbing your inner barrel. Just make sure when you're reinstalling the barrel/bucking that it's centered as much as possible.
