Tightbore confusion..?

Postby ParoJo » Mon Jan 31, 2011 5:01 pm

I made a stop at airsoft outlet this last weekend to get some upgrades for my AEG (CMO32a). I asked about tightbores for my gun and the staff member helping me said that "they dont make tightbore barrels for chinese-made guns". So i accepted the "fact" and thanked him...but i seriously doubt that this is true. Help?

You must have misunderstood them. You can get a TB for a airsoft socom m14.

Whoever told you that is full of shit, you sure the person you talked to works at AONW?
You can install a tightbore into anything which does not have a plastic gearbox or is a spring pistol.

Sniper rifles and some unique guns use a special kind of "cut" for the Hop-up.

Tightbore Barrels meant for AEGs say "AEG barrel" somewhere in the description.

Tightbore barrel that says "uni-cut" are universal, they fit snipers and AEGs. Kind of hard to find now a days.

I was just looking around for a replacement for my TM style Soc16 (I say TM style because I am pretty sure the china ones {CYMA, E1, AGM} are modeled after it) and I heard that they have specifically cut barrels to fit the M14 hop up. On AirsoftGi they have at least a few low and high quality TBBs for M14's. They'll say if they're made for M14s, so don't just get one of the right length.

I think there are some by JBU and Prometheus to give you an idea of what types you can get. They also have Socom and full length versions.
This is my signature. Hear it roar.

Oh actually you do bring up a good point. M14 barrels are cut slightly differently then other AEG's. I know this because I bought an m14 socom length for my g36c (I got it because it was the right length) but it wouldn't not work properly because the cut was slightly different. That said, you should be able to get your hands on a TB for your m14 no prob.

What brand was the barrel?

The brand doesn't matter much... If it's made for a TM M14, it'll have a different cut. My Prometheus did.

All Chinese/TM M14's have a different hop-up cut than regular style tightbore barrels.

MadBull Black Python barrels do not have those cuts.

MadBull Ultimate 6.01mm barrels do not have those cuts.

Airsoft Outlet NW Gunner barrels do.

Prometheus barrels do.

Dees Custom barrels do.

PDI barrels do.
