Trigger Contact Issue?

Postby vibora » Sat Mar 05, 2011 4:43 pm

In the course of rewiring my HK416, I have run into a bit of a speedbump. After replacing all my connectors with deans, I hooked a fully charged lipo up to the gun and moved the selector switch to semi. Upon moving the selector switch, the gun started hammering away on full auto without me even touching the trigger. I've taken the gearbox out of the gun to diagnose the problem, but everything seems to look normal. Anybody have any idea what is causing my gun to do this?

I believe you have a defective trigger assembly. Check again the trigger assembly because the metal contacts could be bent or burned.

What should the contacts look like and what should they be touching?

Definitely not each other. Make sure the spring is set up on the trigger contact right

It's either what Minerva said or you have a short.

Be sure you don't have something like this going on.

Here is a photo of the trigger contacts on my Echo 1 that went bad. Notice that even with the attached spring on the upper part of the trigger assembly it stays in contact with the lower part. The spring should pull it back to cut the circuit. This is the part that you may want to take a closer look on your AEG.

Well, after I took the gearbox out, I plugged everything in again. All parts look like they work fine, and in no position of the selector plate did the gun fire on it's own. The motor turned over only when I pulled the trigger. As this is the case, I don't think it's a trigger contact issue. Could the independent firing really be just due to a short?

it probably is, if nothing inside your gearbox is jacked up. Make sure that you shrink wrapped the connections on your deans, that no wires are pinched in the gearbox, and that there's no stripped parts on the wires.

Could be. Try inspecting your motor endbell and such for shorts. Also try checking to see if all your connectors are properly attached
