And I thought my G&P was invincible

Postby Patrick750 » Sat Mar 26, 2011 12:48 am

So earlier today i was doing some target practice when i realized i didn't have a battery in my gun in half way through the practice session. So i balance charged my 11.1 lipo on a smart/safe charger on a 1AMP charge. I plugged it in and it still didnt shoot. Nothing was moving/turning/no noises. I checked the fuse and it looks fine. The hand guard was recently replaced and motor moved around but it was by the pros at AONW so i guess i can kind of rule that out (?) I don't know what's wrong. I did take the battery off the charger halfway through because it was just target practice not a whole game. Nothing was happening except the motor barely turning when i was trying to shoot it in semi auto. I switched it to full auto when it gave me a very short full power burst that fully charged 11.1's give you. during that burst it all fed flawlessly. Now with a fully charged battery in wont shoot. It seems like an electrical problem because usually when i have "my gun wont shoot!" problems some power is supplied to the motor and the motor tries to turn or it's some stupid hop up/mag problem. The wiring is stock and the gun has never been opened. I did put deans on it. It could be a bad soldering problem. Again I'm not sure.

In the G&P's defense, it was probably a user error and the externals are still perfect and solid :D

Did you by chance reverse the polarity when soldering the deans by accident? I know I did that my first few times

So what your saying is you charged a lipo half way through the charging it you took it and used it in you gun and it didn't fire? but all of a sudden it fired just for a rew rounds and then hasn't fired since?

Use a muti-meter and check the voltages of the cells on the lipo.

Check the motor connectors, these have a tendency to become disconnected due to vibration.

What Nick said.

Also, from having read the first sentence, how does it take "half of a target practice session" to realize you don't have a battery in your gun?

Haha, and how is this relevant to your problem in anyway whatsoever? Sounds like a bad connection or possibly locked up gears to me, or reversed polarity on your deans, but that wouldn't explain why your gun had a successful short burst.

Check the connectors to the motor. One of them might have come off.

I'm having to agree with most of the suggestions, either you locked it up with the last burst on full auto or a motor connection slipped off. I would remove the motor cover, check the connections, if they are good, remove the motor and reach in with a pick and pop the anti-reversal latch, if it unlocks you are good to go. Then just reinstall your motor. If that doesn't work it could be deeper and probably worth taking it to a pro.

I just had AONW install a motor. I didn't reverse polarity because it has been working fine until now. I'll check the motor connections. I use semi auto and am very careful with my gun.

Do LiPo chargers drain and recharge? Or just go from where ever they are? Either way, it's full retard to use a half charged battery IF IT WAS ON THE CHARGER ANYWAYS.

Geez, learn some patience.

They start from where they are Jester. My lipo charger has a drain function, but there is no actual purpose for it other than to ruin the battery. It also charger nicads and nimhs, that's why it has a discharger.

Eh, I just didn't know. I know not to drain completely, but I thought maybe they went to the threshold just to get a good full charge on them. Either way, full charge or don't use it.

I did try it again with a full charge. still nothing. I initially used it on half charge because i was't going to be doing much shooting.
