Retarded Echo-1 wiring... Help!

Postby Icepick » Sat Apr 02, 2011 7:37 pm

So if an M4 is wired to the back, there are 2 wires right? (One positive, and one negative.) Well you can disconnect these wires to get to the gearbox, right? Well... In an Echo-1 you can't! These bastards did a fine job of soldering the negative wiring 'connection points' completely together. So I had to just yank the whole thing apart to get to my gearbox, and now I'm screwed because I am unable to get the negative wires to connect.

Could I perhaps re-wire and use a different style of connection? Like some off an old set of Tamiyas?

Um... what?

Were you trying to remove the gearbox from the gun? If so, you don't have to take apart the wires for a rear wired gearbox...

Ah... I could see how that makes sense now, but then there wouldn't be a logical reason for the positive wire to be able to connect/disconnect.

Damn, so are these connections upgradable in any way? Since it is fubar, what could I do to make it better?

Take a picture of it so I can see exactly what you did. Like I said, there is 0 reason to disconnect wiring if it's for a rear wired gun. I would solder the wires back together and heat shrink the connection.

Yea, see the heat shrink on them? That means they weren't meant to come apart...

Strip, solder, recover.

Don't be an idiot.

This is a case of if you don't know what you are doing, don't try doing something.

Could I re-wire the connection to a Tamiya connection? I'm not the best at this stuff, and a new connection seems like a smarter idea than attempting a fix at this shitmess I made.

I would just cut both wires and solder them together. You'll have a better connection (assuming you don't suck as much at soldering as you do at working on airsoft guns).

Alrighty.

(And I don't suck at working on guns. A faux pas is normal for me every now and then.) ;)

Icepick, when I rewire front wired M4s I use 2mm bullet connectors. Sorry no pictures, I would have some pictures to post but I'm not going to be able to access my work desk tonight. I'll see to it that I get pictures up tomorrow.

Its just connections...you could strip it and twist the wires around a fork if you wanted...the questions is what should you do. And that depends on what you want to do. If you plan to disconnect it there then put some sort of non-perminant connection tree if no then just wire it straight. There is no need for a conection there anyway

The only problem I encountered last night, before I directtly soldered the wires together, was that the wires are too short. And this would cause some difficultys while assembling the gun and using a battery.

(Sorry for double post, trying to bump.)

I have removed the plug ins from each wire, and in the picture you can see what I have now. I tried twisting these wires together and test firing the gun, and got nothing... How can I get this to carry a charge?
