Question about my motor

Postby CCCman » Tue Apr 19, 2011 9:57 pm

Will an "Intellect 8.4v 1600 mah mini battery" be strong enough to power a "G&P M170 Devil Jet Motor"?

Better question would be, why spend $75 on a upgrade motor, and run a basic battery. For about $2 more you can at least get a 9.6 from aonw.

Other than that, i would assume any battery would "run" it, just don't know if it would perform it's best with the 8.4.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

the reason im using a 9.4v is because it is the only thing that fits in my peq box besides a lipo, and im not gonna risk having a li-po blow up in my house.

if you want to use a 8.4v and not go lipo, I would look into NICAD batteries and not nimhs because they pack more oomph.

What FPS are you runnig your rifle at?

Any battery should handle that motor unless you are going to put it under some real stress

Lipos aren't as dangerous as people make them out to be. Buy a balancing charger and don't over discharge it and you'll be fine.

Hell, I had one catch my gun on fire and I still use them.

I had a chance to use a friend of mine's G&P Devil Jet a few months ago, and I must say I wasn't too impressed. The ROF was around 30-32 RPS (using a 11.1v 1600mAh 15C lipo) and trigger response was lacking and much to be desired.
Photo here, for those who don't believe I had a Devil Jet. ;)

Compared to my SHS (AKA Dream Army) High Torque motor which costs $30 from KHmountain.com, I'm achieving ~36 RPS with instantaneous trigger response! I've heard the High speed version isn't faster but it draws less power for the same ROF as the high torque.
There's a difference between a person who has a screwdriver and a person who knows what they are doing.

I am running an m110 spring in it, that should work fine right?
and idk i might go lipo, but if i do what brand do you recommend for a battery and charger?
And one more thing, is the pinion gear on the devil jet good? i've heard g&p pinion gears are soft and need replacing.
