Postby Odin's Hammer » Fri Apr 22, 2011 9:43 pm

ive read alot of reviews on this gun being finicky with aftermarket magazines, can anyone confirm or deny if it is compatible with the magpul pts mids?

If it's the real PTS mids, then they should fit. Read the official compatibility list to make sure what you are looking for is on there.

I agree for the most part with this list. My MAG mids are tempermental. I think I'm going to pick up some Emags to solve my mag issues, especially if CA mids won't feed.

I got the real magpul pts pmags http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/magpul-120rd ... black.html

They fit fine but they do not feed the first 10 rounds. Double feed.

I got the steel MAG190s, they also double feed about the first 20 rounds.

I also have the cheaper PMAG 80 round knockoffs, they feed and fit great.

I'm going to replace my hopup bucking to see if that helps with the feeding issues, just ordered one from KWA. He says they are getting a shipment of KWA midcaps the beginning of may, if the new bucking doesn't help I'm going to buy 10 of those. Would have been much cheaper to get them from the beginning.

This is on a newish KM4A1 gen2x.

My Gen 1 KWA M16 is very picky about mags, but my SR-10 has taken any mid cap I've tried so far without complaint.

Be cautious with these mags. I had mine jam with BBs inside the magazine several times before I gave up and sold them.

Metal mags are the most touchy, they typically have a wider body.
I use the Magpul Pts 80rds and they work great because the top is narrower than most.

I hear it is the hopup, not just the bucking. I've been told that the stock hop-up is a two-piece design which leads to flexing and feeding problems when mag spring tension gets too high (i.e. overloaded).
This may be affirmed because my other gun has a one-piece hopup which feeds those MAG 190 rnd mags perfectly (although there could be other variables at play).
And with the MAG 190 rnd mags, I’ve never been able to load more than 80 to 100 rounds for my 2GX M4 w/o having major problems.
A friend has the 75 round pmags (legit brand), they seem to fit fine but I haven’t test fired them. That compatibility list is probably your best bet.
