Thoughts on AGM MP44

Postby Danger Corp. » Tue Apr 26, 2011 7:28 pm

My friend at my school is looking to buy a AGM MP44( WWII lover..). I had told him that AGM isn't a very good brand, but I have no experience with this particular gun. He says he has looked a few reviews, and they all say that it is actually a good gun, but knowing kids say crossman brand AEG's are good is not necessary mean those reviews are quite true...

Now I have not done much research myself on the gun (well, I'm not buying it ;) ), but does anyone here have any experience on this gun? Any help or thoughts would be great, and thanks in advanced! Hoping that there is some good info I could pass on to my friend from you guys :)

Externally at least they're built nicely and it at least didn't sound terrible when I tried shooting one. As far as I know the internals aren't proprietary, so if they end up being poor they can be replaced. I haven't looked inside of one, though. The only other option for an MP44 is the rare and incredibly expensive Shoei, so it ends up being the only choice for all but the most rich. Magazines are a bit of a phony pony to get, but not impossible. If he wants to go WWII, he could do a lot worse.

I can't say much about the externals as I've only held one for a breif time at some airsoft shop (they seemed pretty solid), but I can say the internals shouldn't be too bad.

I've worked on a few AGM M4s, and the internals aren't as bad as they are made out to be- although you are going to watch out for the wiring (AGM's wiring tends to be very shoddy, you may want to replace the entire wiring harness right off the bat).

This statement offends me
However, my gun is just a little bit of an anti-lemon; an oddity in the AGM world, so I probably have nothing more to add to this thread...
Shutting up now.

My AGM is one of the only guns I have that's never gone down. It's not a bad bet to make and most anything that could go wrong isn't hard to fix. Let him get the gun he wants.

I have a friend with an AGM M16 that he's put 10,000+ rounds through without a problem. The gun is completely stock too, and he's had it for about 2 years now. I see nothing wrong with AGM, especially if he wants a unique gun that's only made by two companies.
