Regarding silicone oils

Postby AndyC » Fri May 27, 2011 10:51 am

Since I am fairly new to 'proper' care for my AEGs, I would like to know if the Napa/Mac's brand of Silicone Spray is safe to use on my AEGs.

As long as it's not petroleum based and pure silicone oil, it should be fine for air-soft use. Keep the viscosity weight under 20 though.

Others may have different opinions and/or experiences with their own brand of silicone oils...but I use 10W silicone hobby oil for most of my GBB pistols and GBBR's. For GBBR's I sometimes use a higher weight.

Many of the silicone sprays you will find at the autoparts stores and hardware stores are going to have petrol in them. You should check your local gunshop if your local airsoft place doesn't have the right stuff.
