Replacement gearbox advice

Postby Gwydo » Thu Jun 02, 2011 12:17 pm

Last year I purchased a Bell G3 SAR Taktik. It work for a couple of days, then the gearbox froze up. I finally got around to taking it apart and found that the gears inside the gearbox had been shredded and the box was hopelessly destroyed.
So I am now looking to replace the entire gearbox, possibly even upgrade it, but I'm not sure which one(s) would fit the gun.

This is the model Bell G3 SAR Taktik that I have.

I believe this G3 Gearbox would work, but I don't really feel comfortable spending $60 if it's not going to be an upgrade, and that is dependent on if it ever gets restocked.

So if anyone has some advice on which gearbox would be an appropriate replacement, and possible suggestions on where to buy it, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks guys!

Agreed. you're not going to get a "good" dropin gearbox for 60 bucks.
But if you just want to get it functional again then you should grab this one.

Its in stock and the motor is probably better then the one you have in there now. If you want an upgrade you will probably have to build it yourself. Or buy the parts and have someone build it for you.

Another another option is to get a higher end V2 gearbox and swap in the parts that make it a G3. I believe that's going to be trigger assembly/switch

But by the end of it you will be $100+ into the project.

I highly suggest a new rifle. If you want a cheap one, go with G&G, Echo 1, or Classic Army Sportline.

The Combat Machine M4 is a great choice, I loved mine. It's like a G&G sportline.

If you're getting a new rifle I'd suggest
http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-DF-M4-SS001.htm

Or their professional series
http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ER-DF-M4-SW016.htm
20 bucks more and you get
Titanium gears,PDW style hopup, 6.02 tightbore

I have never heard of that brand before, not saying that it's bad but, I'd go with a G&G sportline if your on a budget and a KWA M4 if you're not. You can't go wrong with either.

My advice would be a new gun. Either the DeepFire or the G&G Combat Machine or Raider models are going to be affordable and way more gun that you would have if you replaced the gearbox in yours.

Well sir let me introduce you.

Bare in mind this is their ENTRY level AEG. Their professional series have titanium gears and piston teeth. The Entry level GG does not hold a candle. KWA is great but will cost you 2X as much.

Thanks for the advice guys. Looks like it will be a new gun, as it's simply not cost effective to replace the gearbox.
Any recommendations that do not involve an M4 body style? I used an M4 heavily while in the Army and would prefer something with a different body.

G36's are pretty nice. Or a G&G scar, those are cool.

AK47's are wicked powerful but i would agree with Phantom on this one a G36 or SCAR would are similiar to M4's but are different for sure.
