High Speed Blowback

Postby Shmalex » Sat Sep 03, 2011 5:08 pm

I just recently purchased an APS M4A1 EBB and I wanted to upgrade the internals to get it shooting around 25bps give or take.

My question is because the gun is Electric Blowback would this be a horrible idea to bring up the ROF so much?

Maybe because of the blowback moving so fast would cause stress to the gearbox?

you can disable blowback. I don't know how, but many of my teammates do it to their Combat Machines

If you're going to push it up to that high of an ROF, you're definitely going to be needing some tougher internals than the stock APS china stuff. Probably a tough piston and cylinder head, good gears, and a lighter spring wouldn't hurt. A LiPo batter is probably a must too.

I'm not sure exactly how much stress the EBB system is going to put on the mechbox, but if you wanted to play it safe it's relatively easy to disable the blowback. On most blowback systems (at least for AEG's) they just put a small plastic hook on the piston and connected it to the dustcover, at least from my understanding. It can't be too hard to take that out.

Yea for HIGH speed (35+) you want to disable EBB.

Anywho here are some parts you need

Solid steel bushings
Bearing spring guide
SHS 15 tooth piston (or the 14 toothed one if you prefer it)
Sorbo padded cylinder head (Can be had with a piston head included for ~$40 from ARS)
Standard ratio gear set of your choice (everyone has their favorite flavor)
Shim from the bevel
Grease it
Correct AoE (should already be right if shimmed from bevel and used sorbo)
Neo magnet HS motor (Like a 5KU, SHS, Element, w/e)
Might need to shortstroke to prevent pre-engagement depending on spring

You should yield at least 30 from that set up. AT LEAST.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't do it. Speed queen guns sound cool and all, but trust me. They just aren't worth it. Too unreliable. Too hard to set up. Too expensive.

Shoot for around 20-25 rps. Very reliable, you don't burn through ammo and you still get a pretty good ROF without having to do anything major like shortstroking or swiss cheesing.

Yeah, I'm only shooting for around 25. Not really looking to be that one trigger happy kid who's gun is shooting 35 rps. My primary is shooting 400 and shooting like 13 rps so I'm looking to make the complete opposite and make this gun shoot like 290 and 25 rps.

Anyways I appreciate the help. :D Look for me more in the community.

I'm straying off topic a little bit, but why the hell would they disable it?

First off they paid the extra money for the EBB unit, and secondly G&G's EBB is easily the most durable EBB system there is. :|

Creates problems with some some high speed setups, but yea, G&G's EBB is an air driven piston so no real need to do anything to it
