How to disable blowback?

Postby Lukens » Wed Jun 20, 2012 12:36 am

Im looking into buying a G and G raider, and its a great deal. Only problem is that is has electric blowback.

Ive never really seen a rifle with electric blowback, but it just seems over the top and wasteful on the battery to me. Not worth the "cool" factor.

So, does anyone know a way to disable it without destroying the gun, or replacing all the internals?

surely, It could be as easy as unplugging or cutting a wire somewhere?

Dunno a thing about that, but I can tell you that the G&G Combat Machine series is identical to the Raider series except that it lacks blowback.

Ta da! They're cheaper, too, so you have less work and more money. Get on that!

what he said.
i have two methods.
1 a hammer, fixes all problems
2 first take off the bolt thing by sliding it to the back and puling it off. then proceed to taking all the screws off close to the blowback housing. next plug the hole with something  and put the screws back. too bad that your charging handle will be useless and fall off.

This guy is trying to sell me a raider with a magpul angled grip, paintjob that is actually quite good, and a SAW scope, for 130. Im thinking thats a pretty good deal, even if it has blowback, and an MG scope. your thoughts?

Eh. Maybe so. I saw that ad. Here's how I figure it:

1) List the items he's selling
a-Paintjob
b-Angled Foregrip
c-Used Rifle
d-Scope

2) FIgure out the value of that to you (this, in my case)
a-Worthless. Negative impact.
b-$10. Don't love them.
c-Well, it'll be a pain to disable blowback. God knows how it's been used.
d-I'd like a different scope.

3)Now, cross of things of little or no value. What remains is what you want to pay for. Going by my list, you get a rifle that may or may not work well. A new Combat Machine can be gotten for $140 with rails. Bunch of crap I wouldn't want and a rifle I don't know about for $20 less than a reliable rifle without the fancypants.

Now, that's me and that's why I didn't buy it. You may value items differently, but I say to heck with it all.

Ive always been one to get used gear, since its usually worth the bargain price. However, I see your point. Ive really been wanting a new rifle...But it comes with a scope, and grip. I have no cash really, and anything I can use to increase the value of my old gun for resale is worth it lol the paintjob can always be covered as well.

I also asked for a brief history of the rifle, and its supposedly only been used for 2 games. Its his backup gun, for his GBBR.
it supposedly shoots a solid 370 or more. Plus, im going to try it out before buying it, so it seems worth the hassle of a used gun. Im good with fixing up old things, I run a computer repair shop lol.

Plus, being a buyer, I can always go tellem no thanks, or in special cases, to go shove it.

Thanks for your opinion Orwell. Its been quite useful to me as of late.

the repair shop part makes me sound arrogant. Im just saying im not new to getting broken things, and having to get into the inner workings and getting dirty to get a good product.

No worries man! It looks like you have a good head on your shoulders. I won't begrudge you a difference of opinion (or personal experience)! I'm looking forward to meeting you in person some day. :)

Well thank ya for the compliment! :D I think we'll get along just fine. Especially since you seem to enjoy George Orwell. Gotta love his writing. I remember reading 1984 when I was younger and just going...Da fuq did I read...I felt so depressed...and suspicious lol. About meeting in person, do you plan on going to any games soon?

Just get a new cylinder when you take apart the blow back. With no hole to plug just leave the assembly on top and you can still use the bolt. Cylinders are cheap. 18$ for a G&P one that come with a Head and has great compression. Unless that G&G has something noticeably broken on the outside then get it! the G&G raider I have is a beast even though I put a custom barrel in it and cut off the triangle sight post for some flip up sights (which was crooked anyway) Its been owned by like 3 people and with a 11.1 lipo it works great as my midggy gun. I would advise getting a new motor for it though cause the heat up pretty quick when you start using high cycle batteries. You won't regret owning it if the last guy who had it did not beat the crap out of it.

The G&G doesn't have electric blowback, that's the first thing to note, it has pneumatic blowback. The blowback doesn't use anymore battery than normal use. You could possibly be loosing a little fps due to the hole in the cylinder.

The easiest way to change it is like how gremshaw said, put in a new cylinder without the blowback hole. I wouldn't recommend removing the blowback mech as it also is used to keep the gearbox together at the top. If you just don't like the movement of the bolt, remove the c-clip from the blowback piston and pull the tab up on the fake bolt.

Personally, i wouldn't worry about it until you've used it for a bit at a few games. I would run it as it is, then decide what you want to fix on it.

like payback said the G&G blow back system has its own patented pneumatic system so any air that is used to cycle the blow back is not wasted and you should not wast battery power.

if you love putting accessories on the gun getting a standard G&G is probably a better way to go than a combat machine since the front rail is metal and the CM is plastic.

if the gun fires with no problem id say go for it, its going to cost twice as much buying everything new especially the scope if it has magnification that's a 70$ scope right there if not even the Chinese clone goes up to 40$

Code789 is right. The G&G doesn't have electric blowback. It has pneumatic blowback. There's zero extra load on the motor and no extra battery use.

However, if you really do want to disable it, the best, most efficient way is this:

Buy a new cylinder for an M4. Replace the original cylinder that has a small port to the pneumatic blowback mechanism with the new cylinder, which does not have that port. You now have a standard, non blowback AEG.

Yes, No extra strain on the battery or motor. ive had one since october and its done me extremely well. It doesnt make any difference. But the raiders do have a metal RIS compared to the polymer counter part on the combat machines.

This has been covered, but i will add my input.

As an adult owner, and someone who shoots about 100 rounds every day (a great stress reliever after work)

i haver owned a raider l for the last few months, and it has given me no issues what so ever,
I bought mine used, the prev owner had installed a mad bull tight bore, this gun just works and works and works.

I have put over 10,000 rounds through it with no problems.

The blow back does give a little extra clacking (you only notice it if you shoot left handed).
but in no way takes away from the function of the gun.

I agree with the earlier posting, paint jobs=price drop. what they like you may not.

I would try to get him as low as possible(you gotta have money for bbs)

If it functions & shoots well, jump on it.

Good luck & keep us posted!

ON THE DATE WHEN US TROOPS ARE ISSUED AN Energy Pulse Weapon,
1. The US Soldier will have on his person a version of the Colt 1911
2. He will be aiming the NEW Weapon at someone carrying an AK
