AEG Barrel extension

Postby Goliath17 » Fri Jul 06, 2012 11:03 pm

I want to get the KWA CQR Mod 2, which has a 273mm inner barrel. Now, If i were to get a 150mm long silencer, could I get a 423mm tighbore barrel? I just want to know if I should add or subtract and "mm" to be safe. I just dont want it to stick out of the silencer.

Think, young one, think.

Let's do some math here:

I have no experience with the inner barrel length and how flush the edge of the inner sits with the end of the outer barrel minus the flash hider, so:

273mm + 150mm = 423mm

Of course it would fit and not stick out.

My recommendation, as I'm a person who usually ends up letting the tip of his rifle sit on his boot or the ground, get an inner barrel that is shorter and doesn't end up parallel with the end of the suppressor, as you'll possibly get shit in the inner barrel when it's resting if you do it my way.

Also, if you crawl through brush and let your gun's tip touch the ground, foliage, whatever, then it possibly could get the inner barrel dirty and stuff, or dust during the summertime.

We are talking millimeters here right? 16 mm will not make a difference at all.
Some where on these forums these are rant on inner barrel length. What I can recall was that anything over 363mm does not show a large difference.
I am not saying I am 100% correct but there is a thread.

Yes, let's, but let us not (in our old age and wisdom,) forget that there is overlap between the outer barrel and the suppressor. This part of the gun is called "threading", and is magical (and usually about 10mm long, so it makes no difference really).

End result is the same though. Only really matters to the basic mathematician, not so much to the airsofter. "Meh" to longer barrels. +1 to being able to remove a suppressor without removing a barrel, or have the suppressor actually do something.

Don't buy an Evike branded barrel. Save up $20 more and get this

http://www.precisionairsoft.com/PCT-6-0 ... ct425k.htm

Evike is kinda shifty by calling their barrels "Prometheus Type". They want you to think it's as good as a Promy barrel, but it isn't.

For one, don't buy from evike. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=evike+horror+stories

For two, I'm pretty sure the CQR has a 300mm inner barrel (unless you measured it, it's very possible that I'm wrong). They don't make inner and outer barrels to every length specification, just for M733, M4 Carbine, M14, etc. so it would be difficult to find one that came out to exactly 423mm. Like whoever said it said, it doesn't make a huge difference in accuracy. Unless it's a precision inner barrel like this one:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=7299
I'm not saying this one is the best, I don't have any Madbull products in my gun.

What I'd do and am planning to do with my GR15 is get an M733 outer barrel and a Madbull Gemtech Blackside so that there is a bit of room between the end of the inner barrel and the end of the barrel extension (it's a standard M4 length barrel which is 363mm). For you it would be a 363mm inner barrel and a barrel extension.

Barrel extension: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=2357

(one of many) Inner barrel: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=1233

(like I said, I don't have any Madbull products on/in my gun, but I've heard reasonably good things about them)

I think KWA guns have threads underneath the orange tips (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but if they don't then you'd need an outer barrel with threads: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=7918 (need I say it again?) They have them cheaper and more expensive, depends on budget, personal preference, etc.
I'm no gearwhore. I prefer "Connoisseur of Fine Tactical Garments".
See me? No? Good.
According to society, I'm too retarded to have life.
