KWA CQR Motor Problem

Postby Goliath17 » Mon Jul 23, 2012 10:48 pm

I Just got the new KWA CQR Mod 2 and got to shoot it for the first time today, and It seems that the motor is faulty. It feels like there is way too much vibration in the grip, and it makes a wierd, high pitched noise. I tried to adjust it, but I just stopped shooting cause I dont want to mess with it. Does anyone know what to do? Or what is happening?

So, it shoots, right?

Lower the motor height.

There are 2 directions to adjust the motor (via the middle screw in the base of the grip). One way will result in no shooting. One way will result in a loud squealing noise. Adjust so there is as little motor noise as possible, and the gun still fires.

I have done that, but there is so much vibration in the grip, i'm scared to shoot it. I compared it with my brother's combat machine and it was a dramatic difference.

timbuktoo wrote: the motor should vibrate a little in the pistol grip. but no more than a little vibration. if it moves around in the grip if you shake the gun it is installed wrong. there is a screw at the bottom of the pistol grip to adjust the height of the motor (there is one on my bro's kwa, cant say personally about other manufacturers) in the grip and how much of the teeth are engaging. you dont want it loose because not engage the bevel gear or wear out only the edges of the teeth. but you also dont want it too tight because then it will cause extra resistance and wear the bevel and pinion gears quickly.

It's more than "..a little bit of vibration." I think I will just send it back to KWA so they can either fix it or replace it.

If you really want to, you can wrap a few layers of electrical tape around the motor width-wise and see if that solves the problem. Usually shimming it with electrical tape helps reduce vibration.

Or do what Hamster says. Man up, twist the screw. Figure it out.

your "feels like" doesn't help picture the situation. make a video or something before posting. if you're sure the gun is a defect then there should be a warranty on it but messing with the motor height might have voided it already.

comparing a G&G to a KWA is like comparing a kawasaki bike to a harley davidson and complaining that the harley davidson is "too loud". the 2GX gearbox shoots about 350fps in the CQR at a rate of 18rps with a 7.4V batt. where as the G&G only shoots 330 at a rate of around 14rps. less stress on the motor might mean less vibration.

i have a G&G and the CQR mod 2 and after shooting them both; yes the KWA does have a stronger vibration. so i'm just going to assume you're just making a big deal of something normal until more useful information is posted
