We literally just had this discussion. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=40024

Did you shop around at all for known good brands with light machine guns on their product lists? A&K? Echo1? CA? You aren't ever really going to find one "fairly inexpensive", as they're all rather spendy due to size, proprietary parts, and shipping over from Asia. They will cost more than most regular AEGs, are heavier than they need to be, and take some getting used to both to shoot/wield them and keep them running and reloaded.

We need to encourage kids to buy LMGs because they always end up selling them after a month or two.

Deja Vu.

I know RPKs are some of the cheaper options around.. I think the E1 redstar RPK goes for 275? I may be incorrect.

"Inexpensive" and "light machine gun" are usually mutually exclusive words as an automatic rifleman is expected to lay down a lot of rounds, which in turn means your weapon wears out faster than a regular rifle without proper maintenance. As Gator mentioned, the RPK would most likely be the "cheapest" accurate support weapon compared to a SAW, or actual LMG (M240B, M60, PKM). Definitely try a support weapon out first before plunging your money into it.
