Looking for opinions from experience players about the gun.

Postby yashamalu » Sun Oct 07, 2012 7:56 pm

Hi guys, I am a beginner and are looking for my right gun. What I want is an assault rifle with ACCURACY at long distance(chest-size target at 150feet) and decent velocity(above 350FPS), and of course durability.
My budget for the rifle itself is around $200 and I'm willing to spend another $50 to upgrade the accuracy. So would you guys kindly offer your opinions on my selections, thanks!

A. Megastore Armory Full Metal AMR-4 SD Electric Blowback MOSFET Enhanced
http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/4381-AM ... BLACK.aspx
It looks really cool with many attractive features, and its official video proved its accuracy. It comes with full-metal construction and body and blowback feature and 6.03 TB barrel at $205. But I'm not sure if such a low price compromises something like durability or upgrade space.

B. G&G M4 Raider Long
http://www.airrattle.com/G_G_M4_Raider_ ... -l-dst.htm
Not full-metal construction so unknown durability.

C. CUSTOM 400 FPS DBoys Full Metal M4 CASV
http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/4080-GU ... Sight.aspx
Is DBoys good for durability and upgrade potentials?

So what do you guys think?

gtfo.

In all seriousness,

The KWA CQB series are actually fairly good rifles from what I hear. I haven't handled or owned one, but the reputation KWA and their replicas hold is quite true.

I personally own the G&G raider, and I've had some ups and downs with my own rifle. It's suffered from compression issues for a while, but that was an easy fix. It's fallen to the ground and been abused, but it still is holding up.

I've had several cases where the spring tends to lock up the gearbox, causing me to need to take it apart and put all the bits and pieces back in as there's no functioning forward assist on it.

The externals on the rifle are fairly solid, even though people tend to think plastics are weak. Parts of the rifle are metal, but the majority is all polymer. Though, I noticed there was quite some flex if you put enough pressure on the front rail with a broom handle attached on the rail. I just replaced it with a DD rail.

I would avoid KWA at all costs.

Yes KWA has some fairly reliable parts, but a non ported cylinder head with proprietary parts leaves little room for upgradability. I personally would recommend the G&G you were looking at. That way, in the future you can upgrade internally and externally without having to worry about compatibility issues.

Thanks pal, it's useful information. Although I am still wondering if I should get a Dboys full metal instead cause I would need to upgrade anyway.

The opinion of the new guy is dated and based on zip. KWA makes great machines. Although you can't tinker as much as with some rifles, they're reliable as hell. If you don't open the gearbox and let the magic leprechauns out, you're set.

There is a LOT of information on the Raider out there from people who've owned them. Utilize the search bar, and read the stickies while you're at it. To answer you, though, the G&G's make great starter rifles. Having worked side-by-side with one for a while, I would recommend it to most anyone.

What do you need to upgrade? If your talking about accuracy, then get a cheap tight bore and install R-hop.

My information is far from outdated my friend. KWA is still not a path I would recommend people go down, for It ends fairly quickly. As to the new guy comment, I am far from a "new" to airsoft. I am an airsoft Tech who has two a DSG builds with so many modifications that I don't even want to go into specifics. I can tell when a company makes a good gun, and when It doesn't. From a techs standpoint, and not just a customer, KWA sucks.

Brag on. I'm a sailor from Virginia with three nipples who's in MENSA and windsurfs on Thursdays in a naked windsurfing club, plus I bench 400 lbs. Once I threw a man through a plate glass window from ten feet away. You want respect around here, submit pertinent information.

I've met numerous airsofters who just want a gun that'll work and that they can play with. For the new guy, KWA is a solid choice. They fail infrequently, their build quality is high. Remember, the kid you're talking to isn't a tech. This is the Outback Vs. Impreza question. You want a reliable, useful tool that you don't need to screw with? Buy an Outback. You the kind of guy who likes to get into his engine, fool about, and make your car as fast as you can? The Impreza may be right for you.

Not every airsofter needs an elite haXX0r $up3r Gun. Some people just want to play. For a first rifle, a KWA is reliable and good enough.

First: I was just stating It show that I do in fact have internal experience.

Second: You're right about the Outback vs Impreza comparison. I guess I got carried away with my tech perspective of an AEG. However, I was under the impression that he would want to build off this gun in the future. I guess KWA is fine if you don't care about ever making it better. I should remember that this isn't ASM.

To contribute to the thread: Your price range is fairly low for what you want. I'd suggest grabbing one of the G&G combat machines (or KWA whatchamagiggers) and tossing in a tightbore and H nub.

And on the useless bullshit. Orwell, stop calling people new. You're new.

Ivan - It's not a jab or an insult to be new. He had 8 posts. *shrug*

When does one stop being new?

Magpul - Looking back over that, I don't think I meant it as rudely as it seems it came out. Sorry. I was aiming to illustrate that you can't use personal experience as a form of credential when no one knows who you are. Sorry about that.

As a tertiary point, and to maintain some semblance of contributing to the thread, +1 to Ivan's suggestion. Those seem to be the two rifles most suggested by the general public these days. Alternately, pick up something from the classifieds on AP. There are often fairly good rifles for not very much money, comparatively.

KWA CQBR is my choice.

If I buy another M4, I'd get that.

If you want something reliable and accurate to a distance, get an AUG by a reputable company. Longer barrel and nobody buys used ones, so you can get one for cheap.
