Stuck on full auto when on semi or safe

Postby airsoft1234 » Thu Dec 06, 2012 10:54 pm

I have a CM042A AK-47 (aeg) I tried switching out the spring to a less powerful one by myself (stupid enough because i have no experience) and now when I try to put the gun into safe or semi it still shoots full auto when I pull the trigger. Anybody know whats wrong and/or how much it costs to fix?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Couple of things you can check. First of all, look at your selector plate, it's on the outside of the gearbox, see if the little spring is near the top of it. If it's missing, then that's your problem. That will push the cutoff lever into place when you select your fire.

You can see the spring in the middle.

If that's not it, check to make sure you got the selector gears put together correctly, i know that the AK ones are kinda finicky, and have to be just right.

Or it could be that you broke the cutoff lever, or could be something just out of alignment inside around that cutoff lever.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

Ny wife has a cyma ak as well. It had a similar issue. Make sure the screw that holds the selector switch on the outside of the gun is screwed in tight too. I admit it might not be the issue, but we sent hers back the day we got it cause it was doing the same thing. Then we found out it was just a loose screw.

The selector switch connects to the gun at one end. There is a little rivet looking thing covering the screw. You have to pop it off with a flat head screw driver before you can get at the screw.
